Libertarian radio host Larry Elder has a message for the GOP: If the party has any hope of attracting a significant percentage of the black vote, it must speak to that community honestly — and as adults.
“Stop talking to blacks like they are children to whom the truth cannot be told,” Elder told The Daily Caller in an interview about his new book, “Dear Father, Dear Son: Two Lives … Eight Hours.”
“Racism is no longer a major issue in this country. Racism is no longer a major issue in this country. Racism is no longer a major issue in this country,” he wrote in an email. “That Democrats have convinced blacks otherwise, is an affront.”
Elder argues that the greatest threat to the black community is not racism, but the scourge of absentee fathers.

Based on the content, I see no relation to the title.
I absolutely agree that the blacks have been sold a pig-in-a-poke concerning their (blacks) problems, and Elder, the prof. and Williams are on the right track.
Perhaps the Rs aren't being vocal enough (to overcome the strident screaming of the libs re: RACE), but I thought the conservative voice has preached all this for decades.--??? -

I Beg to Differ....
They voted for Obama because he was black; they wanted to keep a black man in office, because they feared that another president might break up their right to entitlement, end welfare as they have come to enjoy and like it, and challenge them [along with all the other entitled folks sitting around home glued to a flat panel television watching CNN or MSNBC] to go back to work through retraining and new jobs developed to get America back to work.
That is as plain and simple as I can put it. And I doubt if I'm that far off base.
Take for example my daughter, who is mid forties, and never held a decent job in her life. My ex, her mom, is an enbabler, and both of them love Obama. My kid would die for Obama, and she is content living off social security insurance for some minor painful conditions [similar to what I have] that NEVER stopped me from working for more than 20 years [I have neuropathy, fibromyalgia, and had carpal tunnel in both wrists - corrected by surgery]. The only thing that ended my working with and through pain was a new supervisor who didn't believe in reasonable accommodations. Once he pulled my accommodations, my doctors and workers comp doctors, had no choice bit to medically retireme me, 12 years before I planned.
My daughter, and don't get me wrong [because I'd do anything for her except pay her way whe she can earn her way] I love her, is another symptom of what is wrong with America. She believes she is entitled, and voted Obama fearing Romney might change SSI and force her back to work.
This mentality is what America has going against it today, and it is why Obama won again. He successfully played into the hands of the entitled; the minority groups of our society [gays, women fearing loss of abortion, and amnesty starved illegal immigrants], giving them what they craved, and they gave him what he craved.
I don't know what America is saying when it talks to blacks, but, sadly, in my daughter's case. she only understands you when you talk to her like a child!! :tear: -

In 2012 93% of blacks voted for Obama, a black man.
Hardly a difference. Blacks vote Democrat, regardless of race of the candidate. I think you are way off base.
As to the OP, I agree with what Mr. Elders says. Absentee fathers is the #1 problem facing the black community. -
Blacks say whites are racist. Whites say blacks are racist.
Picture a large earthquake, or other calamity that knocks out power. Who are the looters? What do they say? Is the economic opportunity provided for our citizens, somewhat equal, or is it rigged, with those with the right ancestor getting a better deal, than those who look different? A large group of our culture believes it is ok to take from the rich because they came by theirs through cheating and special privilege. Yes many are closet racists, but the godless corrosives being poured out upon our "christian" culture even affect folks from mixed marriages. -
Republicans need to write off blacks as hopelessly indoctrinated and racially oriented.
They need to learn to win without them. -

The message is there and has been for a long time. Blacks have rejected it. Repeatedly.
But the message should still go out. However, Making a special effort on behalf of blacks is a waste of time and money. Look at Romney's reception by the naacp. That was a lost cause. He would have been just as well of to skip the event.
