What makes you think all US Christians have the same skin color?

"A Christian" does not equal "all Christians". Christian behavior is not country specific.

Can't respond? How do you think President Trump got elected? Could it have something to do with the fact he is worth somewhere in the vicinity of 10 billion dollars? That little fact seems to have merited him the White House. Duh!

It's a fairly obvious point: just because something was legal then doesn't mean it should be now, and vice versa

Nor is it gender specific, nor heritage specific, nor is it ethnicity specific.

I attend a church that for every Anglo there are 28 Hispanics. Including the Pastor (1/2 Hispanic), both Associate Pastors (full Hispanics), and most of the leadership.

How is that Lily White church of yours doing?

I don't get what point you are making in the context of this thread.

Your point was decrying immigrant groups who refuse to "assimilate"; I gave you the Amish as the example par excellence of such a group

I have no bitterness or bigotry towards you. I was simply pointing out the absurd incongruity of a descendant of immigrants complaining about legal immigration to the US. Obviously I inadvertently triggered you for which I apologise

Well, Duh! That is the whole point. This country is in dire need of immigration reform. Our present immigration law is based on the Immigration Act of 1924. Migration patterns have changed a lot since then and the old laws just don't work any more.

Money talks again. I wonder what the Apostle James would have made of such shenanigans by the rich and powerful

It's not nice to attack the President's family.

Your post #95 brought up the subject of Christians and skin color.

Matt, unfortunately, a log of conservatives in the United States use a large amount of what aboutism and deflection in debate. They are in serious need of reading some Russell Kirk and learning how to make cogent conservative arguments.

And this is the heart of the problem when it comes to "chain immigration."

When my father came to the US in 1924 his father was a skilled craftsman (engraver) and my dad was already, at 14, an apprentice engraver. When my granddad was approved he was asked if there were any others in his family in Mexico who were skilled craftsmen. He nominated his brother Pablo, who was also an engraver, as such skills were often family businesses passed down from generation to generation. That was the original intent of the "chain immigration" policies of the old Immigration Act. To encourage immigration of skilled craftsmen to the US. But that is no longer the criteria. Now just being related to a recent immigrant is enough to get you head of the line privileges. That has to change.

I agree too. And that is one of the reasons I think the government should get out of the marriage business altogether.

What's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander. It's not particularly nice to attack anyone's family but that doesn't hold people back here
