Whoa - for a second there I thought the subject read "liberal interpretation only forum." Guess I have a liberal way of reading English, too. ;)

Literal Forum: That what it says, it means exactly what I think it says, isn't that obvious?

Liberal Forum: That what it appears to say, but it could mean something other than what it appears to say, isn't that obvious?

Thanks Justified and Mr. Curtis. I am looking forward to see what tomorrow brings on this thread. Will more Literalists join in or will the liberals derail us again? I Pray not.

The apostates have the rest of the board! :(

Why can't we have just one section for us?

I'll join. Believe it or not, my interpretive method demands literal interpretation unless there is a very compelling reason to interpret another way.

    So when does it open?

I'm leaving Monday for a TDY; don't know how much I'll actually get to post over the next month or so....

See ? Now already, I feel an edifying conversation about to happen. One where we could actually learn something.

At first I thought this might not be a productive idea, but the more I think about the advantages of a "Higher Criticism" forum, the more I like the idea of having two broad forums - one for discussion of mainstream bibilcal scholarship and the other for fundamentalist/conservative evangelical scholarship.

It would save B.W. from having to begin each new thread he starts with "Please don't attack the fundamental premise of this idea, but..."

Mr. Curtis - my research on the word "day" in Revelation 18:8 tends to lean towards the definition of the word as being the eastern rendering of the word; meaning, any part of the day is considered day.

In that regard, there would be no conflict between verse 8 and verse 10, for one hour of a day is still part of that day.

Sort of like me saying "tomorrow" in verse 8, instead of the more specific "12:18pm tomorrow" in verse 10.
