OK, here is our problem.
My wife, daughter, and I have decided that we would like to take a cruise. None of us have ever been on one, and it just sounds like a lot of fun (our daughter, 15, has never been outside the USA), and an overall great time to be had as a family.
But, we do not drink, nor do we patronize places that serve alcohol. We do not gamble or want to be around it (my wife and I were very vocal in the fight against the lottery here in Tennessee...not that it mattered...our state government is so backward they don't know up from down). And I personally do not want the temptation of scantily clad showgirls bouncing around on a stage, not to mention all the crude humor being passed off as entertainment these days.
We have heard of Christian-based cruises, where the bars and casinos are closed down, and the entertainment is wholesome. We have even heard of some of the cruises offered by different ministries that have daily teaching and preaching. But, the question is, where do you find them?
I have tried to search online, and have had limited results. Everyplace I have found so far offers one or two cruises a year. In Touch Ministries is the only ministry cruise I have found, but it isn't going until January of next year (and it is definately not cheap!!!).
So, I ask all of you on theis forum, please give me any information you might have on this subject. I would hate to have to scrub our plans, but I would also hate myself if I went against my conscience. Any suggestions?

Looking for Christian cruises

Hey Trotter...Templeton Cruises is the one Charles Stanley uses (he has an Alaska cruise in July), but they have other cruises in 2004. Some are "pricey", some are more reasonable. For Stanley's cruises, they close down the bars and casinos, and have Christian entertainment at night; I think they do that for other cruises also.
Here's the link, and if you click on "Bahamas", there's a list of all the cruises in 2004 and prices.

I hope you can find one! Cruises are a great way to vacation!!

Thanks, CJ! I hope I find one, too. Our vacation time is already scheduled, so finding somethig that lines up with it might be tough.

You will PAY for the privilege. If your standards are such, it will be worth the extra charge.
Most cruises make NO money (they break even) on your cruise fare. They make their profits on gaming, alcohol, photos, shops, and bingo.
Without those, the price MUST be raised. Most Christian cruises are NOT totally taking over the boat (and closing bars, casino). They just have their own activities.
Good luck. I cruise twice a year and never gambled a penny or bought a drink (or even a soda). Not an issue for me. -
Dr. Bob,
It looks as though it may be the same for us.

I saw where James Kennedy has a group cruise sometime in March I believe. Not sure if his group has the entire ship, though. Of course you may not the Bible taught, just lots of politics.
I might recommend you look at some of the more "premium" lines, like Holland America. Yes, they have a casino and serve alcohol, but the alcohol is not pushed upon you like some other lines. Prices may be a little more, but generally not a "party atmosphere" type of cruise.
Happy cruising! We love 'em!

Holland America has some really low prices for cruises now.
They don't push the alcohol or the gambling, but they do have dancing shows and comedy. One can go on a cruise without drinking alcohol, gambling, going to the shows, swimming, dancing, or compromising their standards, but I think you would be happier in booking a cruise like Charles Stanley's where the bars and casinos are closed. -
Couple of really great "whole ship" Christian cruises upcoming. Alaska with Dr. Stanley. No casino, alcohol and entertainment is replaced with christian groups (probably CCM but a whole lot better than Las Vegas dancers).
