This is the third part of a critique of Hyper-preterism which I have been posting on my Blog.
http://marprelate.wordpress.com/2012/03/05/the-fogotten-doctrine-loving-the-return-of-christ-3/
In this article I look at the meaning of our Lord's Olivet Discourse, concentrating on Matt 24:34. "Assuredly I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away until all these things take place."
Previous articles are
http://marprelate.wordpress.com/2012/01/20/the-forgotten-doctrine-loving-the-return-of-christ-1/ in which I look at various NT texts to show that the early Christians were eagerly awaiting, longing for and loving the Return of Christ. I go on to ask what it was that they were so eagerly anticipating.
http://marprelate.wordpress.com/2012/02/23/the-forgotten-doctrine-loving-the-return-of-christ-2/ Here I investigate some of the verses that seem to suggest an early return of Christ.
In the fourth article (whenever I get around to writing it) I shall be looking at the importance of Christians today eargerly awaiting our Lord's return, and the need to oppose any doctrine that denies that coming return.
Comments are welcome, either here or on the Blog (or both!)

Unfortunately I am unable to access your blog from here in China, so I will have to confine myself to responses to your comments here. -
It is not only the FP who believe this but many PP also believe Matt. 24 was fulfilled in the events of AD 70. -
Let's see how MM 'certainly' makes Christ out to be a liar, because that is 'certainly' what he must do. -

By the way it is not coincidental that Matt. 24 the overwhelming go-to passage for people who want to wrongly divide the prophecy of Christ. Luke and Mark will not lend themselves to this AD 70/still-future as neatly as Matthew seems to do at first glance.
Luke, especially, "messes up" the chronology that the Matthew of dispensationalists laid out. A careful comparison of the timeline of Matt 24 and those two places in Luke would be very instructive. And very damaging to the majority view. -

Verily I say unto you, there are some of them that stand here, who shall in no wise taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom. Mt 16 :28
Yea, show Christ to be a liar, because that's what you 'CERTAINLY' must do.
