Our preacher mentioned in passing an interesting word, the meaning of which appears to be of some dispute.
2Ki 22:14 So Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam, and Achbor, and Shaphan, and Asahiah, went unto Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvah, the son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe; (now she dwelt in Jerusalem in the college;) and they communed with her.
The word, "college" is translated from the Hebrew word Mishneh.
My commentaries are split on the issue with Gill, Wesley, the KJV marginal notes, and the Geneva marginal notes indicating some kind of religious school, like college. Barnes, JFB Commentary, Strongs, K&D Commentary, and the new versions indicate some kind of suburb or "second part" to the city.
Is there a definitive definition of the word "Mishneh" in this context?
Mishneh - College or Suburb

It is an addition to the old City of David (original Jebus) to the west of that city. By the time of Herod/Christ it was a large part of the walled city of Jerusalem - more than a mile along each side.

I know this is not the most fashionable subject to debate about, so thank you, Dr. Bob for taking time to answer my question!

Wrote an entire college 3-credit course on a Geographical History of Jerusalem. Published by Accelerated Christian Education for use in colleges around the world.
Will search for some of the diagrams to show the various development of Jerusalem. It is a GREAT study!
(Also did 3-credit geographical history of the OT and 3-credit NT)
