Agreed!! One child’s death is too many. Let’s pass the following laws.
1. All children must wear helmets in vehicles.
2. All vehicles must be designed to go no faster than 25 mph.
3. Children must not be allowed to eat candy, chocolate or ice cream.
3. Children must never be allowed to swim in water more than 1 foot deep and only then with a one on one person to safeguard the child.
4. Children must never be allowed to use a knife for any purpose.
5. Children must never be allowed to ride a bike, skateboard, or run as fast as they can.
6. Children must never be allowed to play sports.
7. Children must never be allowed in the kitchen while food is being cooked.
8. Children must never be allowed to go up or down stairs unless an adult is holding their hand and they wear a helmet.
If we enact these laws, we can save thousands of children’s lives every year. That far more than the 700 that have died from covid.
Of course, we will need constant government oversight, cameras in every home, car, yard, playground, restaurant etc, to make sure we aren’t endangering our children’s lives with our freedom and liberty and ability to think and make decisions for ourselves.
Surely you agree, JonC, that if we save just one child’s life, it will be worth it, right?
peace to you

In 2019, nearly 10,000 deaths among children ages 0-14.
Leading cause of death- accidents.
Second leading cause of death- cancer
I wish we could cure cancer, until then, we must pass all the laws I mentioned and many more to protect our children from accidents.
If we save even one child’s life, all the government intrusion and loss of freedom will be worth it, right?
peace to you -
I guess your case, though, is that we should force patents to vaccinate their children.
I would not go as far as you on this one.
Life has inherent risks. The goal is to minimize risks without preventing us from living. -
We must forgo all our freedoms and turn to the government to direct every aspect of our lives so we can save our children from ourselves. Only when the government dictates every aspect of our lives will our children truly be safe.
If we save only one child’s life, then giving up all of our freedoms will be worth it, right?
That is the argument you are making, right?
peace to you -

My argument is that, as Christians, "rights" are not something we take up for ourselves but something we lay down for another.
We are not even talking about giving up freedoms. That is what the anti-covid-vax folk want to believe but it is a false narrative.
People have the freedom to choose or reject vaccines. What the anti-covid-vaxers want is liberation from responsibility. They want not only to exercise their rights but also to deny that freedom to other people.
The anti-covid-vaxers are the socialist movement of today. They have proclaimed the people (read "they") should make decisions about how private busi else's are operated. They reject, in this sence, private control of one's own business. This is a socialistic trait.
So the "freedom" argument is asinine coming from the anti-covid-vax movement because they are trying to deny others the liberty our fathers suffered and died to protect.
It is not enough that the anti-covid-vaxers can reject a vaccination. They want to force employers to employ then, force mothers to allow them to put a child at risk, make decisions for business owners....they are as anti-American as you get.
And to answer your question about if it is worth the lives of our children to get a vaccine, the answer is yes. But that is my answer.....you have to answer for yourself.
Is it worth mandating cars seats for babies if it saves only a few thousand? What if you don't want to use a car seat? Why can't you leave your child in the car alone? Don't you have the right to make such decisions?
The bottom line is the anti-covid-vaxers are socialists and don't even realize it. I suppose most don't when they start down that path. But a rise by any other name..... -

How many have had to decide between rejecti g a vaccine and meeting the conditions their employer has set for employment? Many.
The problem is these socialists want to demand control of what an employer will and will not do to maintain a safe work environment.
I respect your right to reject a vaccine.
I do not respect you trying to remove private ownership and deny freedoms to Americans.
A business owner has the right to make decisions he believes protects his business (within the confines of the law).
You do not have a right to employment. You do not have the right to tell another man what to do with his property.
Those of us who served did not do so to have socialists strip us of freedoms or make America a communist nation. -
I don't mind the anti-covid-vaxers denial of science. They are like the flat earthers.
The flat earthers believe they are the ones embracing science and everybody else has fallen for misinformation.
In the US this is most likely due to a sence of anti-government engrained into our culture.
But in the end these anti-covid-vaxers reject science and embrace socialism as they embrace a political ideology that advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be regulated by the community rather than a business owner.
That is at least socialistic. Not only do anti-covid-vaxs want to protect their freedoms (which are not being taken away) but they want to take the freedoms of the vaccinated...the freedoms of business owners to regulate their own companies).
In this way the anti-covid-vaxers are more dangerous than the DNC. The reason is they do not realize they are moving towards socialism. The DNC knows they are. -
