I hope you realize that churches and Christian have been a major blunt of how much narnia has earned our youth group went opening day there was nearly 58 of us. The largest church took their youth group on their midweek teen time they took nearly 125 youth and other churches all over our area did the same thing the second weekend which helped keep Narnia close to Kong.

It's actually jumped up to 242 million. And I'm not sure if all the worldwide amounts are in yet. Actually Kong only beat Narnia by 1 million this weekend. CoN has finished strong 2 for the past two weekends.

Boanerges
"Over how many years?"
"
It has consistently been the bestselling book on earth in an exploding market for the past 5 centuries or so. Something like 11% of every everybody human who ever lived is currently alife on earth. To keep to it's number one spot it has continue to sell extremely well century after century.
"Since the Christians buy the Bible."
"
And even that isn't exactly true. The Bible also sells well among fans of literature. Not to mention that in your eyes most of those who buy bibles for religious reasons aren't even real Christians. -

Christians mock away as they willingly feed their money into the secular media machine, while helping to fuel the fires of hell  -
Hey, Boanerges, is someone trying to force you to spend your money to go see this movie? If so, just tell him/her no, and move on with your life.
-
Don't forget, sliced bread too fans the flames of hell! Yeast, too much yeast.
Hell isn't a light accusation, and being on the side of Satan isn't a light one. You're making accusations the Bible isn't backing you on, and that's VERY serious.
Step back and think about that one before you continue making such serious charges against God's people.

Galatians 1
8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any [man] preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
I will take Paul and his authority, instead of Lewis anyday.
Feeeelings....nothing more than......feeeelings
c'mon now...everybody sing  -
Nate, The movie has grossed $130,000,000 not "made" for the producers to net 25% (which is a pretty good net) the movie will have to gross 0ver seven hundred million dollars. Which would be a break even.

Hey, Boanerges, if you only to watch shows that are clearly Bible related according to your interpretation of the Bible you can certainly do so. Just don't expect everyone else to submit to your opinion.
-
Oh for Pete's sake!
Even Christ himself spoke in parables!
Was it another Jesus and another gospel?
If what your saying is the standard, you're accusing anyone who writes or reads fiction, or makes parallels to scripture through life events, a bearer of false Gospel and teaching a false Christ.
As an author and a Christian, I can tell you that it's not only a ridiculous way to live, it's just wrong and unfair to other Christians to try to invoke laws that don't exist on them and call it sin if they don't abide by them. -
1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 17 And the world passes away, and the lust thereof: but he that does the will of God abides for ever.
1 Cor 2:11 For what man knows the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knows no man, but the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teaches, but which the Holy Spirit teaches; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man receives not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he that is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.
Back to the drawing board aka the B I B L E. Narnia is a worldly book written from an occult perspective. Hold it up to the Light of God's Word and narnia will be exposed for the darkness that it is. -
Was someone you know of using it as scripture? Why would I hold his book up to scripture? It's not scripture and wasn't written to be. Neither is Popular Mechanics, or Holiday Cooking, or The Gingerbread Man, or Pilgrim's Progress.

"Nero fiddled as Rome burned...."
"
One suspects Nero harped when Rome burned instead, after all fiddles weren't invented yet. ;) -
Man, I think I've been had yet again...
Looked up both Boanerges and eloidalmanutha and find that both are posting on mostly the same topics, and mostly all of it is the same type of stuff...it's all evil, if you do it you're promoting hell...etc..
I'm kinda glad...I was hoping it wasn't real...I'd rather have someone just trying to stir things up than truly believing everything is meant for evil! I am tired of falling for it though! -

These kids are 6-7 years old - HELLO?????? -
Glad to hear that young folks are being introduced to great literature at an early
age. -
I think perhaps what a lot of people are not aware of was that CS Lewis was a professor of English and his field of expertise was ancient literature, which necessarily includes the mythologies. He knew Latin and read many works in their original language. He loved the ancient works.
What he was doing, in Narnia, in 'Til We Have Faces', and referencing in many of his other works, was simply what he knew the best and was totally conversant in. He was not pushing occultism and those who think so are revealing their own ignorance about all of it.
We live in an extraordinarily uneducated world today. Technologically advanced, yes, but also terribly uneducated about our own language (easy to see, I'm afraid, from reading post after post with grammar and spelling that should have had them flunked out of school), about the classics, about the arts, about history...
And that lack of knowledge seems directly related to the degree of paranoia exhibited about that which they have little or no knowledge about!
Turn off the TV, folks, and start reading -- something besides your standard fare. Get brave. Read the Iliad or Odyssey. Read the mythologies!
If you look at any of them you will find that, with a little work, you can usually peel away the mythological elements and find what historical events they are referring to -- many of them biblical!
Education and reading won't get you closer to God, as we discussed in another thread, but it definitely will give you a deeper appreciation of other people and a lot less fear of people who think a little differently than you do.
All seven books in the Narnia series are delightful. They explore different aspects of Christianity for the young reader. They use a variety of ways to do that. If you don't like LLW, you for sure are going to flip out at Caspian's adventures! (And then there is the dear old Marshwiggle...) And yet they are entirely educational in aspects of morality, human nature, and our proper responses to certain situations. They consistently emphasize obedience to what is right, thinking about others, resisting temptation, and the very meaning of life itself. The message I, and my children, got from them on a consistent basis was one that invited them to get closer to God, to trust Jesus, and to always obey Him.
Adults may miss that message. The children don't!
