I wasn't sure where I should post this so I thought it might be enjoyed best here. This was sent to me by a family member in Kentucky. I hope you will like it.
Since the Pledge of Allegiance and The Lord's Prayer are not allowed in most public schools anymore because the wor "God" is mentioned...
A ked in Arizona wrote the attached NEW School Prayer.
I Like It...
Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule
For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.
If Scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.
And anytime my head I bow
Becomes a Federal matter now.
Our hair can be purple, orange or green,
That's no offense; it's a freedom scene.
The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.
For praying in a public hall
Might offend someone with no faith at all.
In silence alone we must meditate,
God's name is prohibited by the state.
We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,
And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks.
They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.
We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,
And the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior King.
It's "inappropriate" to teach right from wrong,
We're taught that such "judgments" do not belong.
We can get our condoms and birth controls,
Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles.
But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No word of God must reach this crowd.
It's scary here I must confess,
When chaos reigns the school's a mess.
So, Lord, this silent plea I make :
Should I be shot; My soul please take!
AMEN
Jesus said, "If you are ashamed of me,I will be ashamed of you before my Father."
I am not ashamed.

My kids attend a local public school as well as the town sports leagues. I think it is neat that the Little League pledge is quoted by every Little League baseball player before he plays. The first line of the pledge is, "I trust in God, I love my country..."

SC,
That sounds like a wonderful pledge for the schools and teams to resight. I have never heard it before. Thank God for all the people who still value and take a stand for Him. If you know all the words I would love for you to share them. It might be a good pledge for the church kids to learn. ~Sheila~

What if the kid doesn't trust in God? What if he's a Muslim? Do they still let him play?
By the way, it's called the first amendment, which bans goverment support of religion, such as prayer in school. If the Pledge of Allegiance said "One nation, under Buddah, with liberty and justice for all" what would you think of it? Probably something similar to how atheists feel when they're coerced into saying "one nation, under God."

Yes, some of the founding fathers believed in the Christian God, but I believe they built a secular nation, not a Christian nation. That's what made them so great, in my humble opinon. The knew not to establish a government religion, and gave us the freedom to believe whatever we wanted to.

Test4Eric, I bet you don't have a problem spending money that has "In God we Trust" on it so what would it hurt for our children to say, "In God I Trust and I love my Country"? We all have a God we believe in and the pledge doesn't say, God in Heaven I trust, so for some people it may be the god of Buddea they trust. ~Sheila~

I know people who actually cross "IGWT" out on occassion. Even so, would they be expected to not use money because they don't have a belief in God? Does the dollar bill say "For Christians Only"? If it said "In Allah we trust", I'm sure there would be a hayday over that.
And if a child doesn't believe in God or doesn't want to feel like being coerced into saying "In God I Trust and I love my Country", then they shouldn't have to say it. What would Little League officials do if a kid refused to say it?
And not everyone believes in a God, just thought I'd point that out. -
I just had this poem sent to me via e.mail... thought I'd share it with y'all, and please, it's not an attack on anyone, so don't censor it.
--------------
Now I sit me down in chair
So I can read my e-mail there
A poem I see was sent around
And found itself my inbox bound
I read the text, I read each verse
Our nation’s law this poem doth curse
Our Constitution’s deemed obscene
And all who forward it have agreed
They want their god in public schools
But in my eyes, they play the fools
They say that “you can’t pray in class”
And laughter sends me off my ass
For those who study, who know the laws
They understand the Establishment Clause
Our government won’t a religion endorse
That’s how America’s free, of course
But beliefs still they will respect
Freedom of speech they won’t neglect
So find your desk, sit in your chair
And say yourself a little prayer
You’ll bend no rule to pray in school
Worship your god, you’ll sure look cool
Make envy, show off your wool
You’ll have received reward in full (Matthew 6:5)
And when you see the grade on your test
You can thank Jesus for your F
And for this lesson, thank him, too
For studying, God’s no substitute -
