The will of individual states will be negated by the US Constitution.
So, in effect, the states have no say.
If one state goes for , all the others have to honor it.
"Full Faith and Credit shall be given in each State to the public Acts, Records, and judicial Proceedings of every other State. And the Congress may by general Laws prescribe the Manner in which such Acts, Records and Proceedings shall be proved, and the Effect thereof."

Yeah, sure, then anyone could marry, or call themselves married and just be shacked up. Then the FLDS could 'marry' all the little girls that wanted and everyone be a real legitimate marriage.

Generations ago this would have not been a problem because no state would have recognized homosexual "marriage" - in fact homosexuality was illegal in many jursidcitions as it should still be - and no one needed to worry about such foolishness.l -
Fortunately, such laws will never be reinstated in the United States. -
