Since this is a news forum, I will share some news. This is not on the scale of national or world events, but very important to me.
Last year, I was unexpectedly diagnosed with a stage 4 advanced form of a rare blood cancer that is typically a very quick killer. I finished a fairly new chemotherapy regimen 11 months ago. Thankfully, it put the disease into remission.
I now get regular checks and scans. As I approach the year mark, I feel like an important milestone is coming up. I am cautiously hopeful for the year ahead. This time last year, I didn't think I would be here now.
So I have awesome news, and continue to hope for the best ahead. Treasure each day. You never know what is just around the bend. Chemo and the effects of the disease were not an easy battle, but yet here I am.
I thought I'd share this to remind everyone the topics debated here, while important, are not deserving of the passionate feelings they stir. There are more important battles in life.

And I agree with what you are saying.
For me the discussions on the board are simply a diversion.
More interesting than TV - and some times as funny as you will find anywhere else.
Will try to remember to keep you in prayer. -

Sorry to Read About Your Cancer...
I am very sorry to read that you have been battling cancer. That is always a terrifying word, and no more so when it is discovered to be something that you are personally diagnosed with.
Over the years, I have found you to be a strong minded, strong-willed individual, which along with your faith and tons of prayer, you have the winning combination to overcoming this, or any other disease.
You will be in my prayers as I join everyone here on the forum asking the Father to grant you many more years of life. I ask this because I know you have many loved ones who would be lost without you.
I am praying for your continued success in beating this disease.
Like you, I am staring a life-threatening disease straight in the eyes, too! Recently, I was moved from Stage 2 to Stage 3 of Renal Failure. There is little a person can do when they receive such a diagnosis other than cast their anchor upon the Rock, and believe it will hold! :praying:
I wish you the best, and can only hope that you will be around many more years to give your opinions and views on topics and issues on the forum.
Shalom,

Thanks for the kind words, Pastor Paul. I too am sorry to learn of your health battle. You too will be remembered in my prayers. We are pretty tough...we can beat these challenges, bro.

Our daughter-in-law's battle with leukaemia has reminded me of this often. Prayed this morning that things will continue to go well.

I wish we could see more of this instead of the bickering that we get into. Maybe if we remember that these are our brothers in sisters in Christ with battles and fears and anxieties we could remember to step back and pray for them before we post.
I needed this reminder - thanks -

Non-hodgekins lymphoma survivor, here. I lost a lot to cancer, but have been able to live a very rewarding life since that awful diagnosis, in 1986.
Thanx for sharing your story. -
I am glad you beat it, Curtis. It's a horrible thing.

Thanks to all for your kind words, prayers and encouragement.

You Are So Correct on That...
Any chronic disease, especially the ones that are potentially life threatening, are first, and foremost, devastating to the person who receives the diagnosis!
However, we must never forget that any disease of potential life-threatening magnitudes also presents a serious emotional sting on his or her immediate loved ones, family and friends, and mankind in general. Even though we may not be directly affected by the disease, we are always going to be indirectly effected by what we have to accept as reality as we watch our loved ones, friends, neighbors, and colleagues go through the numerous stages and subsequent pain, suffering and the physical and emotional toll a life-threatening disease brings with it. :praying:
It is heartbreaking, and even when the person is blessed enough to beat the disease and go on living, in the back of their mind and those they are loved by, are the reminders and fear of having to face another round with the disease at unknown time and place in the future. :tear:
Either way, life changing diseases affect more than the diagnosed person, because our love for the stricken person bears an emotional pain that just can't be made better with chemo, pain relievers, drugs, or surgery.
Sickness does in fact effect a great number of people, and that truth must not be forgotten in the overall treatment plan.
My prayers are not only for my brother, Magnetic Poles, but for all those whom he touches with his life and who have been holding their collective breath since the moment they found out how ill he was (which includes me). May God bless ALL of those involved in his healing, as it eventually becomes a true group effort (their prayers, love, positive thoughts, support, presence, and etc.). :1_grouphug:
