So, how many lost presidents in a row is this?
-
Perhaps from the dream of a Christian theocracy? -
It is disappointing to hear our leaders praising the virtues of a religion that has declared war on us. As far as President Bush personally goes though, Kelly is right, he is the President of all Americans and it is a secular role. On the other hand, it has been the Muslims who brought the fight to us and even a secular leader need not smile and cowtow to them.

I'd rather he try to make some political points with potential voters than with the Saudi Royal family.

Well said Squire! You too SheEagle.

Islam has not declared war on us. Some Islamic fundamentalist extremists have. -
BTW, CAIR is linked to Islamic Terrorists!

ABSENT FROM THIS DISCUSSION, OF COURSE, ARE SOME KEY MEMBERS OF THE BB WHO, A FEW YEARS AGO, RIDICULED ANYONE OF US WHO QUESTIONED THEIR OPINION THAT GW BUSH WAS A GREAT MAN OF GOD.

The most heard of, and most militant are the Shi`i Muslims, which, in their various forms, represent some 10-15 percent of the Muslim world. These, too, are divided into different Shi'i sects.
The most common adopted form of Islam, though, are Sunni Muslims. The Sunni make up about 80 ot so percent of the Muslim world, and tend to be pacifist. Unfortunately, like the small percentage of Jewish Zealots of Jesus' time, the minority often are the ones who do the most damage (The Zealots often led political revolts, while the Hebrew Essenes, well, we hardly ever think of them).
There are definitely differences in how these two Islami groups see the western world (for the sake of arguemtn, Jews and Christians). The Shi' ites typicall see them as infidels (a word from the Koran), while the Sunni Muslims refer to them using the Koran reference Ahlil Kitab, which means "people of the Book (Bible)". Also, the Shi' ites are often cited as using the word Jihad to mean a "Holy War", whereas the the Sunni stick to the strict Koran definitin, which means a "personal struggle", especially one of an inward spiritual nature.
What I find most disturbing in the media since 9-11 is how little media time was given to Mislum world leaders who denounced Bin Laden and his actions. For example, the most prominent Muslim leader in the world, Shaykh Abdul Aziz al-Ashaikh, the grand mufti of Saudi Arabia, proclaimed four days after 9-11 that "hijacking planes, terrorizing innocent people and shedding blood constitute a form of injustice that cannot be tolerated by Islam, which views them as gross crimes and sinful acts". It got little press. Meanwhile, the press seemed to be all over Saddam Hussein when he opened his trap, and he's not even a Muslim religious leader. -
As I have said in another thread, I am glad I am not the president. It is a secular office, but boy, I don't know how a Christian could be praising Islam so much. I just don't understand.....

"to help usher in the holy month of Ramadan." -Why is a Christian participating in false religious festivities?
"It has made brothers and sisters of every race." -The only true family of God are those who believe and follow Christ.
"Tonight we honor the traditions of a great faith" -Yes, lets honor a "great faith" that just also happens to be a completely false lie and is responsible for sending millions of muslims to hell because they placed thier faith in the wrong man.
"this season commemorates the revelation of God's word in the holy Koran" -The Koran is not God's Word and is certainly not Holy. This statement borderlines on blasphemy against God's Word.
"America honors your faith." -Speak for yourself George. Islam along with all the other lies of Satan can go back to hell where they originated from. -
Well, John, while it's true the grand mufti of Saudi Arabia made statements against what happened on 09/11, you failed to mention that Saudi Arabia is full of madrassas who teach their children hatred against the West, against Jews, and against Christians. Who have been video taped teaching toddlers that Jews are pigs & need killed. That the religious leaders of Saudi Arabia are also the ones who fuel hatred and demonstrations in the streets against us. And that Saudi Arabia funds terrorism by sending thousands of dollars to homicide bombers in Palestine. That a big charity drive and auction was held for proceeds going to homicide bomber families. Also, you forgot to mention that Osama bin Laden is from the Sunni sect of Islam. So a few statements of sympathy towards what happened on 09/11 do not cancel out the other facts. Scripted words are cheap, especially when there are possible political implications. Let's face it, American money has made the Saudi family quite wealthy.
From the Internet:
al-Qa'ida a.k.a. al Qaeda, "the Base," the Islamic Army, the World Islamic Front for Jihad Against Jews and Crusaders, the Islamic Army for the Liberation of the Holy Places, the Usama Bin Laden Network, the Usama Bin Laden Organization, Islamic Salvation Foundation, The Group for the Preservation of the Holy Sites.
Description: Established by Usama Bin Ladin about 1990 to bring together Arabs who fought in Afghanistan against the Soviet invasion. Helped finance, recruit, transport, and train Sunni Islamic extremists for the Afghan resistance. Current goal is to "reestablish the Muslim State" throughout the world. Works with allied Islamic extremist groups to overthrow regimes it deems "non-Islamic" and remove Westerners from Muslim countries. Issued statement under banner of "The World Islamic Front for Jihad Against The Jews and Crusaders" in February 1998, saying it was the duty of all Muslims to kill US citizens, civilian or military, and their allies everywhere.
Strength: May have from several hundred to several thousand members. Also serves as the core of a loose umbrella organization that includes many Sunni Islamic extremist groups, including factions of the Egyptian Islamic Jihad, the Gama'at al-Islamiyya, and the Harakat ul-Mujahidin. -
ie. not the mainstream or the majority - but of course you'll ignore that and continue to argue that every single moslim is anti-american, or a member of al-quida, or anti-semetic etc etc etc
what would it take for you to acknowlege that the views of the extreme are not the views of the majority? -
InHim2k,
The views here often represent the extreme right of American Protestant Christianity - so I guess it's no surprise that some here assume that the extreme right of Islam represents all of Islam.

He doesn't have to bow down to Mohammed because he's president of a bunch of muslims.
He wasn't. In fact, Muslims don't bow down to Mohammed either. This is yet another common misconception. That's like saying Jews bow down to Moses. -
