The one thing I liked about Obama was his ability to move the US into the 21st century with technology.. and the way he used the net, email, blogs, etc to correspond...
This is an area that needs further development. rock solid email security and absolute assurance of saved copies.
One thing that really gripes me (other than politics) is the need to print out, sign, and fax legal documents rather than putting an undisputed electronic signature on the incoming document and emailing it back.
These things are within the reach of current or somewhat improved technology.
I think it's more of a cultural thing.
Important transactions have to be done the way they've always been done.
That's right....I heard that Obama was redirecting those who [voted for some one other than him] write him, or access e-mail site to another page that does not allow the citizen to send an e-mail. This is what you get for voting McCain/Palin:laugh:
As a former Department of Social Services supervisor here in California, I have to admit, that once we went paperless, it was not as bad as I had once imagined. And we are a huge state organization, responsible for monitoring over 75,000 licensed home.
For instance, the legal department would issue temporary restraining orders against home day care providers that were closed for serious violations against children in their licensed child day care homes.
The TRO's came with a photocopied signature from the Director of our Department, and that was more than enough to make the paperwork official in the eyes of the Administrative Court Officials when the case went before them to adjudicate.
Paperless is the only way that 98% of tomorrow's businesses will operate.
Why would cell phones conversations be any more secure than text messages and blackberry messages?
Aren\'t they sent over the same protocols?
I assume the president can have a cell phone.
I do see the problem with e-mail.
I thought Al Gore invented the Internet!
So now we know that Obama is the one behind moving the US "into the 21st century"!
Wow!
Private enterprise - far removed from government - is what moves us forward.
People have ideas, try something, think it might sell, build some, actually sell them, make some money doing it, someone else makes some better, then they have to adapt, etc. all of which is progress.
Government just holds everything back and skims some revenue off the progress.
If he managed the country would that not make him dictator?:tonofbricks:
Don't forget that the Constitution established a Federal Republic.
In recent years the concept of federalism has been ignored by the government in Washington, DC.:BangHead: :BangHead:
