Pentagon to Reveal Steps Necessary to Repeal Gay Ban in Military
Obama must really think having homosexuals in the military is a good idea. He's been pushing it long enough. It's a bad idea. It some of that "change" he talked about that we don't need, don't want, but are getting anyway. We ought not do anything that in any way endorses, legitimizes, or encourages homosexuality. To the contrary we should restore the laws that stood against it. It is disgusting that a President of the USA pushes this agenda for the homosexuals and lesbians.

I was a military recruiter when Clinton came up with "don't ask, don't tell" we all felt this was silly. I still do. It used to be a disqualification to be openly gay when signing up, and this question (are you a homosexual) was done away with by Clinton and thus a gay person was and still is more or less told it's OK to be gay, just don't ever tell us. Now Obama wants to do away with the secrecy and have them come out openly. Why? If they already are serving their country how is this going to change anything? Obama would have us believe that gays can't serve, but they are, right now, we just don't know who they are. If enacted, will these men and women have badges that say their gay? He has pushed his abortion issue and now heading into the homosexual agenda. What is next? Maybe we'll be required to bow down to him?

Yes, Obama does endorse homosexual behavior. John MacArthur commented on that (here). I agree with MacArthur 100%. Obama's beliefs are sinful and abominable.
For me, gays in the military is a non-issue. As others in this thread have rightly noted, there have always been gays in the military. The military is a fighting/killing machine, not a church. So as long as we allow fornicators, adulterers, and other immoral people into the military I don't see the problem with allowing homosexuals. -

Were they unfit for the military? No, they were fit for the military. They could do their jobs.
Were they unfit as Christians? Most definitely. -

The same was true on the troop ships ... and that was really close living. Nothing out of the ordinary.
Likewise I never saw anything out of order when we were eating and living together. Not even sexual teasing. That also would have been very unhealthy for the person doing the teasing or suggesting.
I really cannot understand where so many irrational fears come from. I knew myself and I knew that if anyone ever bothered me that person was going to be in big trouble ... one of us would have ended up hurt. I am not afraid of being around gays, I know myself.

Twice I was pressured for sex by gay sailors. And I know of several others. I know myself. It's everyone else I doubt.

If you have ever served you know that you do not want to share close quarters with them. No common bathrooms, no barracks, no tents. But if you are going to open up for the homosexuals then you might as well go completely coed showers and all. Its no different

I was hit on by a male student in college. And it was a Christian college!! I simply said no, and that was it. No drama to it. I never had any particular issue when I saw him in the men's room or if we were changing out for sports, and I suspect it was because he was polite and respectful of people. I can't speak for persons' experience in the military, but I'm curious what the opinions of those of you who have served are, including Bro Curtis' input. -
You know how they used to do the firing squad? Only one rifle was loaded with live rounds. The rest were blanks and that way everyone could have a reasonable doubt. It's sort of the same way with don't ask don't tell. It works, and changing it is just political. -

The platoon I was in had an open barracks....we all slept together in two big rooms, no private or semi-private rooms. If there had been a problem it would have been very short-lived.
I do not see it as political. I see it as simply recognizing reality. There always have been gays in the military, are now and always will be.
What about totally immoral straights ... should they be kept in the military. As I said in another post, the most immoral two fellows I have ever known were straight enlisted fellows in the same platoon that I served in. They could do their job, but they were horrible examples of what a human should be. You would not want your son or daughter to meet either of these guys.

Yep there is immorality in the service. It's not allowed in the barracks, in other words don't get caught. People are sometimes discharged when they can't control their behavior. The bottom line is that you are going to run off alot of good troops who don't want to deal with this stuff if it goes through. -

People need to realize that there are gays:
in the military
in every corporation of any size
in every church of any size ... probably on many deacon boards
probably on every bus or subway you ever ride
in every restaurant you eat at
There are pastors, deacons, Sunday School teachers, secretaries, etc., etc., etc. who are gay. I am not arguing that homosexuality is right. I am saying it is a part of our daily lives whether we know it or not and if we are secure within our own sexuality it is no threat.
I do have a difficult time understanding why so many people are insecure in this area.
