An anti-gun owner initiative considered in Washington could lead to massive civil disobedience and a severe domestic crisis,” John M. Snyder said today.

“According to confidential information,” he continued, “forces linked with the administration suggest the government classify semiautomatic firearms and multiple capacity ammunition feeding devices as Title 2 National Firearms Act items under the Gun Control Act of 1968.

“Under this scenario, semiautomatics and high capacity magazines could be acquired only with great difficulty and at great expense by America’s estimated 100 million law-abiding firearms owners.”

More evidence you do not understand the Constitution. As the last sentence of the article said, Congress can defund the ability to accomplish such a goal. There are checks and balances in place you did not post, such as judicial review. One wonders how many and what type of guns you own?

Theoretically checks and balances are in place. How have they been working lately?

    But you're missing poncho's point.

If the 94' congressional elections taught the politicians anything it was that any percieved infringement on 2nd amendment rights is political suicide. I seriously doubt anything will come of this. Blue states would turn red over this.

You are absolutely correct. The article is the mindset of a delusional paranoid.

There are no points to understand. Reality of life experience is what I make judgements about history, politics and governments, not the latest SyFy movie.

The lessons of the 2012 election might suggest otherwise. I predict some weakness in wording in some legislation will be exploited to sieze the weapons of the citizens, and the citizenry will roll over and submit like they have with Obamacare, which, despite the checks and balances is illegally in power.

Such a scenario will not play out here in KY anytime in the foreseeable future. More likely it could trigger an actual revolt. For real.

Yeah right a revolt in Amerika!

I bet 80% will roll over and give up their guns without even a whimper and call the 10% who don't un patriotic and a danger to national security. Same thing happened when the Patriot Act went into effect or when torture became normal operating procedure in Amerika. The majority rolled right over and called those who questioned it all traitors in rebellion against God.

I'm talking about here in KY. I seriously believe confiscation of firearms would not succeed here.

The reality is the net effect of Obama's policies are in favor of guns. The only change he's signed into law was to allow concealed carry into national parks. Furthermore, there is about zero political will to implement gun control. The NRA would flip out and they have so much political power they have a near veto over any gun legislation.

Count Texas in too. Just about everybody in Texas owns at least one gun and nobody will give them up without a fight. And in Texas, most of the police would side with the gun owners. Another reason I love Texas! :)

Open carry is illegal in Texas but the state is "shall issue" for concealed carry. Texas also recognizes every other state's carry license. A group is lobbying now to repeal the "no open carry" law. Texas may be the next state to go to "Constitutional Carry" like Vermont, Alaska, Arizona, and Wyoming. 12 other states have legislation in one or both houses of the state legislature to make the states "Constitutional Carry."
