However what remains is the value system, thought processes, and agenda of the politicians who "float" these balloons and still remain in power to continue to work to further their agendas.
They will simply wait for another day to attempt the same things from a different angle in the hopes of putting one over on the unsuspecting public.
Crabby, the fact that this plan would even be considered shows a lack of respect and gratitude for those who have served and have been wounded in that service. Injuries suffered during military service whether during combat or not should be covered, not by private insurance, but by the government. Here I have no problem spending tax payer money to support those who have given more than most of us will ever have to give to protect our freedom.
My husband is a Vietnam vet, and he has NO BENEFITS. They restrict the benefits to those who were wounded or sprayed with Agent Orange over there. I think it is a travesty that he has no benefits since he was told he would have them if he served over there.
But Obama has the largest VA increase in his proposed budget so hopefully your hubby can get his promised benefits. I would think you would be outraged with the presidents who cut your hubbies benefits and not the one who is trying to get them back.
I am not sure it shows lack of respect. I could make the same argument for sending young people to an unnecessary war. We would not have these thousands of injured if we had not gone on this ill adventure.
I did not say I am a supporter of the play. I am not. We should take care of our own, no queston about it. I agree with you on that point.
This ill adventure is part of the reason that our economy is in such a shambles. For years now we have borrowed a billion a week, mostly from China, and most of that was to fund the war.
Obama is an exception.
He believes it and the idea will resurface.
But it's not veterans he is after.
They are just pawns in his plan to break private insurance companies and make his doubly expensive health care proposals more palatable.
