While American Unemployment Remains At More Than 12%, Obama takes a Two Day Working Vacation in India, All Expenses Paid, 100 Million Dollars.
You read that right... Obama's two day trip to India is costing American tax payers more than 200 million dollars. This trip and Obama's personal entourage (some estimate the number of those accompanying him to be around 3,000 people) are the largest and costliest presidential trip ever.
Obama's legacy will definitely be that he knew how to spend taxpayers money!

Who has unemployment at 12%? The highest Ive seen is 10%.
I really do think the estimates on the cost are overblown. I would be curious to see if its on the US for the cost or if it is shared or already budgetted. Not too long ago I attended a meeting at our state house of reps and heard the affair cost $50k. But when one examined the budget and saw it was already budgetted, and the person making the claims assumed we had all flown in via first class tickets. -

Truth or Fiction has looked into the different areas of this story
Even Snopes questons the story. Mainly the US would have to spend $66,000 per person per day (assuming 3,000 people) to get to the 2 billion over 10 tays.
Will the trip be expensive - of couse it will but sounds like the critics found one thing they could inflate
And 34 ships would be 10 per cent of the entire Navy. -

I support his trip, I think bringing the C.E.O.'s along to open up some foreign trade is a good idea. I hope this begins Obama's attempts to start governing FOR the people, instead of AT them.

I'm in favor of his trip.
Can he stay?
:D
(yeah, I don't buy the cost breakdown either. Doesn't pass the smell test) -

That would be the ultimate outsource of a job

So the next time my teleprompter breaks and I have to call "Teleprompters Are Us", my call will be outsourced to India. "This is Barack Obama, how can I help you with you teleprompter?" Afterall he does have such extensive experience using one while giving a speech to six year olds.

For what its worth the India trip is very important for American business. India is the number two economy we need to be engaging behind China. This trip will do a lot of good in terms of sustainable growth and partnerships.
The cost estimates are foolish and anyone with reading glasses knows it. There is no way the thing is going to cost this much, no way.
I'm just curious why the OP requires everyone to be as "outraged" as he in order to prove their nationalism. When I heard the initial stories I gave a concerned look and then realized the estimates on costs are way overblown. I'm just not a believer that it will cost this much. -

Regardless of the Cost.... Will it be Worth It???
... if any of this info is true, it should be an outrage. Again, if this is true: Never before has a sitting US President taken such a large contingent on a foreign policy trip.
Furthermore, since when does Capitolism need the kind of government "pick-me-up" Obama is providing? This looks like another Bailout with taxpayer money in order to promote US business interests. Has anyone asked how he picked those lucky enough to go on this trip? Was it based on their 2008 DNC campaign gifts?
Wouldn't this money be better spent in applying it to reducing taxes, or developing new jobs, shovel ready jobs, here in America? Does anyone believe that 3,000 CEO's will have any major impact at winning contracts and business for their companies?
It is just another attempt by this administration to stick its fingers into the private business development and capitalism in America?
I wonder what these CEO's will be required to do when the bill comes from the WH?
Furthermore, why was this trip kept quiet? Do you think that the election races would have been more devastating to the DNC had this huge foreign trip plan been released prior to the elections last week?
Finally, I apologize for the 12% unemployment rate. I was looking at California's rate, and superimposed it as being for the entire country! My bad...
However, please note that the four highest unemployment rates are: FLORIDA 11.9%, CALIFORNIA 12.4%, MICHIGAN 13.0%, and NEVADA 14.4%.

As far as this trip, I think it is important that our leader visit one of our most important allies in the region. And promoting American business and trade is a good thing.
There is a lot that this man does wrong, so much so that one could probably just throw a dart at a newspaper and come up with a legitimate thing to complain about. This trip however is one of the exceptions and not one of them. -
BTW, doesent the news media pay a nominal fee to ride on Air Force 1?
