Case closed. InTheLight's 10 minute assessment of the autopsy trumps all the investigators from independent agencies that spent countless hours pouring over the details and recreating the event.

Ah yes, the appeal to authority fallacy. Nice.

The so-called "independent agencies" were Sgt. Kyle McPhee of the Michigan State Police, county prosecutor Douglas R. Lloyd, and assistant county prosecutor Brent Morton.

Understand that the cop called for backup. But Devan had called his girlfriend to bring his wallet with driver's license. (The cop thought he was calling his militia member buddies.) Had the cop been waiting for backup and then she shows up with his driver's license the whole situation would have been avoided.

My one and only question is why would Sgt Frost suspect that this kid was calling his "militia" buddies?

    The answer might be . . .

Shooting a kid seven times because you were knocked back and punched in the face just shouldn't be an acceptable reason for murdering a kid with seven bullets.

Briefing to the Tea Party Caucus of the US House of Representatives

My name is Tom DeWeese, President of the American Policy Center, and according to the Southern Poverty Law Center I am a right wing extremist, a racist and a potentially violent terrorist.

In March, 2010, SPLC issued a report entitled “Rage on the Right: The Year in Hate and Extremism,” in which groups opposed to issues like the Obama health care plan and illegal immigration were lumped with white supremacist groups like the National Socialist Movement and Skin Heads.

In August, 2010 SPLC launched an attack against my organization and our national conference, The Freedom Action Conference, held at Valley Forge, PA, and featured such speakers as best selling author Tom Woods, former presidential candidate Michael Badnarik, Sheriff Richard Mack, several respected state legislators, and many more well known spokesmen.

The title of the SPLC attack against me read, “Patriot Rhetoric Becomes Increasingly Violent,” and said we were “united by rage” at the federal government. Not one speaker at our conference advocated violence or lawlessness of any kind. Yet we were labeled as dangerous and potentially violent terrorists.

Annually SPLC puts out a list of what it calls “hate” groups and individuals it deems dangerous to the nation. That list is almost exclusively respected pro-Constitution spokesmen.

Now why do I care what this private organization, with its own political agenda, says about me?

So they need military styled weaponry to protect them from Constitutionalists and gun owners? Bunch of pure crap and we allow Congress to use our dollars like this.

That autopsy report is devastating to the family's case. This guy was high as a kite:

and I think he was some self-styled libertarian that was filming the incident to upload on youtube to make a point. This lawsuit will go nowhere.

Why did the officer pull the kid over for flashing him?

Why didn't the kid comply with the officer's instructions?

Officer went overboard, plain and simple. But the kid didn't help the situation.

Mistakes made on both sides, compounding the situation, resulting in a (in my opinion) final bad decision that resulted in death.

Used to teach my security guys: if you shoot once, shoot twice; but if you're gonna shoot more than twice, you need to be taking cover.

It would seem that's what the police are being taught by the "social engineers".

It appears that the Southern Poverty Law Center hopes to silence their opposition by projecting onto them shame and guilt, by seeking to portray their opposition as outside the mainstream social body, and by portraying their opposition’s views as outside legitimate social discourse and therefore not subject to free speech protection.

These tactics are reminiscent of Saul Alinsky’s advice to budding political organizers:

“Before men can act, an issue must be polarized. Men will act when they are convinced that their cause is 100 per cent on the side of the angels and that the opposition are 100 per cent on the side of the devil.”

This way of sharply dividing good elements of society from bad is an example of the kind of thinking that Robert G. Lee calls totalism.

The Southern Poverty Law Center’s attempts to characterize their opposition as potential domestic terrorists is made even more problematic, however, by the organization’s close working relationship with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), because the DHS is a government agency with police powers.

You just can't trust these right -wing libertarian pot head extremists that question the SPLC trained police ITL they're all out to get cops and overthrow the government and they're everywhere.

Haven't you heard, it's open season on the police?

Once again this has NOTHING to do with the use of excessive force. Did the officer know he had been using pot? No. So the amount of THC in his body is irrelevant. What they need to be doing is releasing the toxicology testing of the officer.

He shot that kid seven times. DISGUSTING!!!

Honestly I think some of you have some serious issues if you think anybody deserves to have their life snuffed out over some stupid stuff like this just because idiotic cops can't control themselves.

You are an idiot with an agenda against cops. Stupid "kid" shouldn't have acted like a moron and he wouldn't be dead.

If anyone has any subversive material like a pocket constitution I suggest ditching it now before the cops get here.

It does matter if he was high because that will make you paranoid and act abnormal. I think the cop knew something was wrong with him but I did note that he never asked Deven if he'd been drinking.

He asked him eight times for his license and all Deven wanted at that point was video footage. Btw, not all of the shots had a downward trajectory at all and the officer said he was afraid of losing consciousness and shot Deven so he wouldn't get the cop's gun. And there is a difference between a jury, trial, sentence and execution than from a pothead provoking his own death. If he had just not had that last joint before the pig stopped him . . .

Just a bunch of excuses. Unless the kid had a gun ready to shoot and kill the officer, there was no need for deadly force. And save all the mess about his hands or anything else being a lethal weapon.

A child is dead because there is something systemically wrong in police departments all across this country.

I guess you never saw the video. The kid was not lying face down on the ground. The cop tried to handcuff him and he fought. Cop tazered him and he got up and went after the cop. Here is the cop after the incident:
