Even the light side of the force is no match for the true Light of the world!

I don't think the real Jesus would go see StarWars, or any other movie for that matter. I have been tempted, hearing all the hype about the new movie. I have seen all the others, and it is hard not to want to finish it off, but I think I'll be allright without it. I was walking through my favorite electronics store recently, and they were playing the trailer on all the computers. Over and over I kept hearing Obi Wan say 'you are the chosen one'. I remember in episode one, little Anakin was born of a virgin, apparently 'begotten' of the Force. George Lucas is a Buddhist and is anti-Christ, and I don't care to see his counterfeit Jesus joining the dark side.

Joseph Botwinick -
BTW,
Episode 3 was awesome. Lucas finally remembered how to make a truly great SW movie.

Plus the plot was sad and the ending unhappy. I suppose for the real fans, they can watch it third in line of the 6 and feel like it is all tied together.
I guess I was too slow to catch many of the political jabs, but I was annoyed by some of the overt New Age/ semi-Buddhist attitudes.
Karen -
It was supposed to be a sad ending, because the New Hope in Episode 4 is Luke Skywalker.
Joseph Botwinick -
Lucas did pull it all together in this one. some of the politics bothered me, but I also felt that they made contradictory statements, ie: "only Sith lords speak in absolutes" is an absolute statement spoken by a jedi master....
All in all in was a great film and brought the series together.

I don't think Lucas is trying to compete with the Passion of the Christ - its not a religious film. But as with any story, the battle between good and evil can always serve as a backdrop that we can use to teach about the true battle between good and evil we know of from the Bible. Paul used the false teachings of the athens as a starting point to tell them about the true God.
Jesus Christ referenced Hades, the Greek God of the dead, and the place of the dead, and turned it to teach of the truth of what happens after death.
Star Wars is not a religious film, it fiction and fantasy, plain and simple.

Still have not seen it yet, but then I am a Trekkie so what did you really expect!
