Reuters reports:
"CIA director General David Petraeus has no plans to become a candidate for vice president or run for any other elected office, a spokesman for the spy chief said on Tuesday."
I would not vote for Romney of he was picked and accepted. David Petraeus sees no problem wit open homosexuality in the services and even supports it so he would kill
my vote. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXxTBTIw4yQ
Well, it seems the links say "the soldiers would not care" and Petraeus said that.
The other link is a progressive (socialist, left wing) blog, so consider the source how they took that phrase and jumped to a conclusion it seems.
But, Petraeus may not be a good pick, after all, in some respects.
He was furious over the obama withdrawal of our troops.
The troops, OTOH, maybe would not vote for him if he were VP pick.
Also, as CIA director, he is more or less acting in the PC manner at the direction of his boss, obama, IMO.
Believe me, canning is punishment...doing all the prep, boiling the jars and lids, standing in a hot kitchen over a hot stove all day, waiting, waiting for the processing.
The only satisfaction is hearing those lids "pop" as they sit on the counter and cool afterwards.
I gave it up years ago...lol.
(PS:
It WAS nice having fresh home canned tomato juice about mid-January, though.)
Here's my personal drawback with Petraeus: His only political arena expertise as been in uniform. While that may be a plus for the military side of the equation, it's a negative for the actual "how to run a country" side. He's been through the hoops on how to get funding through Congress for military endeavors, and therefore knows how to work with Congress, which is a plus; but what experience does he have regarding what the average taxpayer deals with? How does he relate with civilians who aren't politicians or have family members in the military?
I would like to see J C Watts picked.
Not that VPs make much difference, but the person picked needs to be a strong conservative with a track record of supporting conservative causes.
The person should not even have the appearance of being moderate.
