Headlong Into Apostasy

Dec 03

Click here: http://one.org/onesabbath/ to see a visual image of where Rob Bell, the Barna Group, Bono, and many other evangelical wolves are trying to lead the Church of Jesus Christ.

The global spiritual apostasy is here and the prophecies of occultists like Alice Bailey, Djwal Khul, Helena Blavatsky and Benjamin Creme are coming true before our eyes. Evangelical leaders are in lock step and helping to lead the charge to the new spirituality. Read what is written on the Share International site from their latest magazine issue about this worldwide outpouring of global poverty and social justice efforts. Note what is said about Obama, and how the world teacher will be manifested as the spiritually minded work together to end social ills. Then go back and re-read the press release below.

But first, read what the one true God has said in His Word:

Thus says the LORD, the King of Israel
and his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts:
“I am the first and I am the last;
besides me there is no god.
Who is like me? Let him proclaim it.
Let him declare and set it before me,
since I appointed an ancient people.
Let them declare what is to come, and what will happen.

Fear not, nor be afraid;
have I not told you from of old and declared it?
And you are my witnesses!
Is there a God besides me?
There is no Rock; I know not any.”

One Sabbath: The Face of New Spirituality

Dec 03 by Ingrid Schlueter

Please take time to read this press release I received this morning and to look into the face of New Spirituality–a spirituality where there are no separate religions, only different “denominations”. I have noted that this is increasingly the term being used by global poverty activists. I will have another post on this shortly. Take time to read all of this and note the highlighted portions, which are mine.

Faith Leaders Launch New Effort to Mobilize Congregations around Global Poverty & Disease

** New survey finds Christian leaders eager to step up advocacy efforts on behalf of poor **

On World AIDS Day and start of holiday season, ‘ONE Sabbath’ effort engages faith community on poverty issues as Obama Administration sets agenda

Washington, DC—This Wednesday, December 3, national faith leaders will join pollster David Kinnaman on a media conference call to discuss a new effort to engage America’s faith community around global poverty and health issues. The call will also feature results of a new survey by the Barna Group of Christian leaders on the priority of global poverty issues in their congregations and outreach efforts.

The effort from ONE, called ONE Sabbath, gives congregations and individual believers opportunities to respond to such global challenges as AIDS, malaria, lack of clean water and children out of school. ONE Sabbath informs congregations about the proven solutions that can save lives and transform impoverished communities, and offers concrete ways to raise awareness and advocate on behalf of the world’s poor. The program coincides with the first 100 days of the new Presidential Administration and new Congress, an important moment when U.S. leaders will be setting budget and foreign policy priorities, and will be laying out their vision for America’s role in the world.

What: Press conference call on ONE Sabbath effort and discussion of new survey on faith leaders’ priorities

Who:

Rabbi David Saperstein, Director of the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism

Imam Johari Abdul-Malik, Director of Outreach at the Dar Al Hijrah Islamic Center

Ishani Chowdhury, Director of Public Policy for the Hindu American Foundation

David Kinnaman, President of the Barna Group and author of the best-selling book, unChristian: What a New Generation Really Thinks About Christianity

Mark Brinkmoeller, ONE Sr. Director of U.S. NGO Partnerships & Faith Relations; and National Coordinator of ONE Sabbath

Where: Conference Call Number: 1.800.862.9098
Conference ID: “ONE Sabbath”
When: 11 a.m., Wednesday, December 3, 2008

The telephone press conference will be a chance for reporters to hear from respected leaders of various faith denominations on the importance of addressing global poverty and health. The call will take place just days after World AIDS Day and at the start of the holiday season, a time when many Americans take more time to reflect upon their own faiths and helping those less fortunate in the world.

Faith leaders will share their stories of addressing these issues in their own places of worship, and the role ONE Sabbath will play in connecting more congregations to these issues.

Polling expert David Kinnaman will also present findings of a recent survey indicating that many pastors are committed to combating global poverty and would welcome help or support from efforts such as ONE Sabbath.

After brief statements from the faith leaders and polling experts, reporters will have an opportunity to ask specific questions of our speakers.

More About ONE Sabbath:

The ONE Sabbath effort includes Jewish and Christian congregations and encompasses ONE Sadaqa in the Muslim community and ONE Seva in the Hindu community.

ONE Sabbath aims to raise awareness among America’s faith communities about the opportunities our new President and Congress have to implement proven, affordable solutions that will save lives, make our world more secure and live up to America’s best convictions. The ONE Sabbath season will run through the first 100 days of the Obama Administration and the new Congress, a critical time when budget and foreign policy priorities are set.

ONE Sabbath provides participants with tools to become advocates within their own faith traditions. Whether through a small study group, a question to a candidate, a sermon, a multimedia worship presentation, a petition, a gift to charity, a community organizing event or a conversation with a neighbor, ONE Sabbath participants will help to educate their communities and make a difference.

A wide-range of content and resources have been developed for participating ONE Sabbath congregations, including: materials developed by SermonCentral.com, a Nooma film by Rob Bell, Christian service guides, Torah and Parashat readings, a Tzedek guide for campuses for the Jewish High Holidays, a reflection and action guide for the Hindu tradition, a prayer and reflection guide for masjids, a Ramadan advocacy resource on hunger and poverty, Christian hymns, PowerPoint templates, youth group and children’s materials and music videos. ONE is providing these key materials at its website, www.ONE.org/ONESabbath.

One is a nonpartisan, secular organization dedicated to fighting global poverty and disease, the ONE Campaign celebrates the fact that communities of faith and individual believers are central advocates in this effort, and have been for years. ONE welcomes people of all faiths and those who profess no faith into the growing global movement to eradicate extreme poverty and end deaths from preventable and treatable diseases. ONE Sabbath is one way people of faith can lend their voices and contribute through action.

ONE Sabbath is an effort by the ONE Campaign to rally individuals and organizations of all faiths to address the challenges of extreme poverty and global diseases such as AIDS and malaria. The ONE Sabbath effort includes Jewish and Christian congregations and encompasses ONE Sadaqa in the Muslim community and ONE Seva in the Hindu community.

The ONE Campaign is a global advocacy organization uniting millions of people to press government leaders to fight extreme poverty and preventable disease around the world. For more information, visit www.ONE.org.

What exactly is wrong about this?

They will know we are Christians ... by our inaction and uncooperation in the face of inhumanity and starvation???

They will know we are Christians by our LOVE!

No, O people, the Lord has told you what is good,
and this is what he requires of you:
to do what is right, to love mercy,
and to walk humbly with your God.

I don't fully understand this but are they calling it "ONE Sabbath" because they're hoping that each religious group will take one of their meetings/services/etc. to speak on this subject? I do think it is vital that there be a global addressing of these issues because so many have ignored them for so long. I don't think that our church will "partner" with other churches but I would expect (and have seen) my church to address these same issues - maybe with other like-minded churches in the community.

We Americans, who so many feel poverty is not having cable TV or a Starbucks, need to wake up to what is really going on in the world and deal with it one way or another. If it takes an organization addressing ALL faiths, then that is wonderful. The churches will do it bringing the Word of God along with them - and that's a good thing.

Wow! Try reading your Bible to see what is WRONG with this - have YOU ever heard of a one world church? No? But you're obviously a Rick Warren fan, aren't you and refuse to see that it goes against what GOD ALMIGHTY TEACHES, and the fact that they're aligning with Hindu's and Muslims.......... oh, but that's okay for you, isn't it? Did you even read the entire thread or access the links provided - probably not.

Well, welcome to the tribulation, one world government and one world church - I trust you will enjoy it. I'm off in the rapture. I don't buy into apostate man-made self-righteous, pious rubbish.

I must be missing something
You sure are.

Man-made pious rubbish? To help those in other countries less fortunate than ourselves?

btw, I heard Rick Warren on Fox News in XM last night in bits and pieces and what I heard was spot on. Jesus is the Only Way to know the Father.

I do think you're getting a little ovezealous about this. It's an initiative to work to combat poverty, starvation and disease. It's not about starting a new one world church or government. Sit down. Have a cup of chamomile tea and relax.

Agree, MC, Annsi et al. I get tired of the pseudo-pious who want to lift themselves up by tearing down others. Rick and his church have a vision for the world, to actually minister to others in very real ways, that is far different than most. God bless 'em.

Another poster to "ignore". :(

Have I missed something? What is with all the Rick Warren haters? Has he done something or said something lately?

Not so much on this thread, but this thread reminded me of a few others that had been posted.

Stay with me on this: The OP story made Goldie mad. Rick Warren makes Goldie mad. Thus, Rick Warren is of the devil.

Got that? :tongue3:

Gotta admit, I was worried. It had been months since I had seen a "slander ricky" thread. I was beginning to get worried the rapture had happened and I was left behind. :tonofbricks:

Warren is apperaring alot on the news talk show circuit and getting involved too much in politics. This is a mistake. This is where Falwell went wrong. Falwell was so vilified in the main stream media even his own brothers and sisters in Christ were taken in by the left wing propaganda and turned against him. Warren's words will be taken out of context and twisted and he too will be demonized and politicians will avoid him like they did Falwell. He is picking up the mantle of Falwell and the MSM will eat him up and spit him out. Mark it down.

There is much wisdom and truth in the Bible:

Here's a passage from Ecclesiastes 12:8

Vanity of vanities, saith the preacher; all [is] vanity.

Ecc 12:9 And moreover, because the preacher was wise, he still taught the people knowledge; yea, he gave good heed, and sought out, [and] set in order many proverbs.

Ecc 12:10 The preacher sought to find out acceptable words: and [that which was] written [was] upright, [even] words of truth.

Ecc 12:11 The words of the wise [are] as goads, and as nails fastened [by] the masters of assemblies, [which] are given from one shepherd.

Ecc 12:12 And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books [there is] no end; and much study [is] a weariness of the flesh.

Ecc 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this [is] the whole [duty] of man.

Ecc 12:14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether [it be] good, or whether [it be] evil.

My own impression:
Pastor Rick Warren is in a position of much influence: He is also in a position to be influenced to meet the expectations of others. I will pray that God will put truth in his mouth and in his pen so that ALL those who give him an audience will hear the unadulterated truth of the gospel.

I still have the PDL and the following are just a few of the problems which I found with the book:
pg 10..... Jesus empowered by 40 days in the wilderness. ????? [Jesus was never 'without' power. He did take periods of rest, he ate and drank and when fasting suffered the weakness and loss of strength in his flesh, he blead when injured by beatings, thorns and nails, and his body lost its breath for three days but he was never without power.]
pg 27......everyone's life is driven by something.....many people are driven by guilt. [Really? What about sin? Where is the Savior in this chapter. Instead of being driven, isn't the Christian walk (walk vs 'driven') in the Spirit.... filled by God's Holy Spirit?]
pg 28 ......Cain....his guilt disconnected him from God's presence. [What about sin separating from God. What about 'none righteous...no not one' what about our own righteousness being as filthy rags attempting to cover, hide and protect from view---- full of odorous excrements of exfoiliating and unhealable sores without the application of the Balm of Gilead?]
pg 37....."If you learn to love and trust God's Son, Jesus, you will be invited to spend the rest of eternity with him.......if you reject his love, forgiveness, and salvation, you will spend eternity apart from God forever." So 2 paragraphs down, here is the solution according to RW "When you fully comprehend that there is more to life than just here and now, and you realize that life is just preparation for eternity, you will begin to live differently."[....... so its something you do, not something God did for you and continues to work in you?]
pg 40..."The deeds of this life are the destiny of the next." The memory verse for this section is "This world is fading away, along with everything it craves. But if you do the will of God, you will live forever." I John 2:17 (NLT) In some eastern religions...... they believe in 'duties' which are done according to one's station in life in which each is born... which, if properly completed raises one in the next life (reincarnation) into a higher state... eventually which brings one through a series of rebirths into completion by joining with the 'divine'. The Bible is clear.... very clear that it is not by what we do but by what God has done on which our salvation and relationship to God depends. These words of RW doesnot speak so exclusively of the Redemptive work of the Lord Jesus Christ but what others of other religions can read his book and their religion would allow them to accept his words without coming into relationship with the Lord.
pg 166.... "Pastors often have the unpleasant task of serving as mediator between hurt, conflicting, or immature members. They're also given the impossible task of trying to make everyone happy, which even Jesus could not do!" [Where in the Bible does it say that God gives pastors the task of trying to make 'everyone' happy? Where does it say that this was Jesus mission? So, if God doesn't assign this task.....then accepting this as one's own purpose in his ministry is apt to distract the pastor from his obediance to God by becoming a man-pleaser. The empathy this statement draws from the flock to be understanding and supportive of their shepherd is good....but it is not scriptural that a pastor is responsible for the happiness of 'his' people.]

I will admit to those reading that this is rather harshly critical over a book which really does have much to offer in growth and understanding of the Christian walk...and I'm sorry that this seems so critical and the full context surrounding the above mentions may resolve the questions presented here... But, it helps us to remember, the first the last and always the final word is God's Word, the Bible, and any other will exhibit weakness by comparison.
