Oh, LBC=London Baptist Confession of 1689
ARBCA Spiritual Gifts Policy:
the purpose of this position paper is to identify and clarify the statements contained in the 1689 London Baptist Confession dealing with the stated issues, to answer questions concerning what positions we affirm and deny from a confessional basis, and to preserve the unity of the churches in a controversial day.
It is always understood that Scripture must be the final authority over the conscience on this issue.
However, the member churches of ARBCA have already confessed that the LBC is a faithful summary of what Scripture teaches . . . . this position paper deals more with the exposition and application of the LBC to this issue rather than a lengthy exegesis of Scripture.

I do believe we have to the point of a spiritual "Detente!" May God bless you as you believe what you believe, and may He continue to bless me with I believe. :wavey:
As I said, my beliefs and yours will NOT keep us from Heaven, Just at arms length here on earth!
Love you brother, and respect your position.

basically, we say that the Spiritual Gifts have been a cause of division in the Body, and we agree that the Bible teaches us that there is no scriptural support for them ceasing, but also that they must adhere strictly to the biblical guideline concerning their use and regulation.
The scriptures seen still as being PRIMARY and ONLY infallible source of spiritual things, and ALL gifts MUST supprt/conform to it in all matters!
Also state that this will NOT be a dividing issue, as both views can be seen as evidenced in bible by their supporters, and will allow freedom to disagree!

A few questions, if I may:
Would you take a moment and specify which Biblical guidelines you adhere to?
In an earlier post I think you said such gifts are not allowed to operate in a worship service.
Where are they allowed?
What steps has your church taken to assure that the gifts are not divisive?
I understand the freedom to disagree regarding belief.
Does that extend to practice?

had an interest discussion during our past sunday teaching service
Going over the Holy Spirt and the Gifts of His to the Church...
had about half the membership attending the morning teaching service
pastor polled the group on if Sign gifts had ceased after Apostolic Age or not
All but 1 said they still had continued
So Guess that make sit opfficially, we are a Baptist Church who believes in the continuation of
all of the Gifts for today...
thankfully, pastor DID say that NO health/wealth/prosperity, Word of faith would be part of ANY gifts operating today in a Church!

It's a shame how poorly educated our people are.
Protestants have by and large believed that sign gifts were done away with at the end of the Apostolic Age.
Within this society there is a heinous theological free-for-all where people just believe whatever they like with no exegetical, historical or theological support.

My pastor has TWO earned Doctorates in theology, ONE FROM DALLAS tHEOLOGICAL, OTHER FROM TRINITY EVANGELICAL, HOW WOULD HE BE SEEN AS BEING UNEDUCATED?

A few questions, if I may:
Sure!
Should have clarified that we have reserved that operation to ONLY be 'allowed" while in the pastoral Prayer aspect after services, and ONLY after the person 'tjhinking" he has something from the Lord gives it first to either the pastor or an Elder, to have discernment/judgement if seen as being "valid"
See the above, want to make sure NO ONE has to be involved who does not see anything to it as valid, and also to make sure that the authority from pastors/elders are in charge!
Think we will see NO public tongues/interpretations/prophesy etc more along lines that one might be led to share 'a word" from God in a personal sense to other person in their situation!
