May I politely disagree?
I believe that your question is a good question AND we as Christians have a God given right to know if those around us support the Laws of God or do not.
Therefore I highlight your question:
Do our fellow board members knowingly support those that are supporting abortion, homosexuality, cheating, stealing, murder, rape, or lying?
As I said to carpro.
HE got it right.
It's not up to you to know what I think, feel, or who I vote for or don't.
Although Bush is trying, BIG BROTHER is a LONG ways away.
Besides, since you have added many other terms to the question than carpro. I would highly doubt ANYONE can answer that with a no.
Since we ALL know that ALL politicans are corrupt in at least one of those terms, no one can say they haven't supported them.
Just because someone identifies themselves as Republican does not mean they are conservative.
In fact, aside from the leadership, I believe the Senate is more conservative now than it was last year.
As for the House, the opposite is probably true, but we shall see.
Considering the Bush will probably go veto-crazy now that Dems have taken over, the House will probably come out looking like budget-balancing, fiscal conservatives simply because their liberal programs will not pass the President.
We may actually get a balanced budget now.
We usually do better when Congress and the Presidency are held by separate parties.
Maybe prosperity will return to America now.
I only wish we could get some social conservatism along with the new, forced, fiscal conservatism.
Next time around, in lieu of voting the party line, who we're told to vote for by the party, as regular voters, why don't we vote for the true conservatives who are not out for themselves, who truly want to serve just for the sake of serving, and who will vote for conservative principles even when it conflicts with the party.
I could whole-heartedly vote for a conservative Democrat who would vote conservative and who is not beholden to that ugly party.
Same with a Republican.
How many Democrats on here would ever support a Republican like that?
I think we are seeing the separation of the parties into sub parties, mush like during the salvery,anti-slavery days.
I think we will see Conservative Democrats, Liberal Democrats, Conservative Republicans, and Liberal Republicans.
Provided they are socially conservative and at least somewhat fiscally conservative; i.e. not taking 90% of my money in taxes to fund overseas hospitals and schools or insisting that we have a $15.00 minimum wage, I would have no problem voting for either a CD or a CR.
Conservative is the key word.
Unfortunately, the Democrats' platform has liberal written all over it, and the Republicans' don't even read their own platform anymore.
Sounds like you are trying to elevate a couple of sins to the top of the list.
For me, the sin is rebelling against God.
While I am concerned about the modern acceptance of some specific sins (abortion or adultery for examples), my real concern is that so many people like sin.
However, if I may point out a scripture:
"18 When I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life, that same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand. 19 Yet, if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul. 20 “Again, when a righteous man turns from his righteousness and commits iniquity, and I lay a stumbling block before him, he shall die; because you did not give him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he has done shall not be remembered; but his blood I will require at your hand. 21 Nevertheless if you warn the righteous man that the righteous should not sin, and he does not sin, he shall surely live because he took warning; also you will have delivered your soul.” "
Actually it is not up to me or up to carpro to know your . . . but it is a godly responsibility to preach against sin.
Sin is not a respector of persons.
It will destroy any and everyone if we let it.
And that was not 'Big Brother' speaking - that was the Word of God spoken through Ezekiel.
Amen!
There are more liberals in the Republican Party than we can ever know!
They just cloak themselves with the phrase "conservative" but their are not conservative in their belief system, world view, or ideology.
No, I thought I was clear on that.
It was a local board, with no religious affiliations other than secular humanism, agnosticism and atheism.
And I was too strong on their irredeamability.
(word?)
Quit a sweeping statement.
ALL huh?
But if we stand together we can elect "good" ones.
Where, exactly will you find these good ones?
The good ones don't run for political office.
They compete in the free market for their share of profits for them and their families.
Usually the ones that become politicians can't compete, or are done earning.
A real good illustration of areas of His sole divine purview.
That is exclusively His to do with as He sees fit, and we just go on wondering.
A great place for "faith resting"
Hillclimber to be fair you are accusing BiR of disregarding your reply and he has not even responded to your post. As far as I can tell he made no accusations and then clarified his remark by asking for clarification.
As far as you being a thorn in the flesh of liberals, I doubt it. I certainly do not lose sleep over you or your ideals, no matter how wrong I feel you are on any given topic.
