Back in 2008, we had a member here who spoke of ending his life and through God's intervention and a number of members here to help, he was able to get help, reunite with his family and get help for his mental illness. Well, I just heard from his wife that his battle has ended. AJ (his name originally on the site was agj**** (some set of numbers - can't remember) and then seekingtruth) ended his life on Thursday. Please pray for his wife and 9 year old son.
I am so heartbroken and can't stop crying. I know AJ now is no longer battling his illness and is fully restored but it hurts knowing that someone was so troubled that this was their best option. I can't imagine how it is for his wife and son. She said "I just wish I could have helped him." How sad is that??
Pray for former member's family. I'm so sad.

Believe me, I know. I had a bout with depression a couple of years ago with no explanation. My doc had me run down a series a lifestyle things I had going on and the one glaring one that stood out to her was me working third shift and only getting 3-5 hours of sleep per day. Well, I went to day shift and started getting 6-8 hours of sleep a day and the problem was solved and I've been fine since.
My point being isn't to change the subject. My point being, if you begin to have problems like this gentleman did, PLEASE seek help. There are some very easy fixes that will help most people. -
That said I am sorry to hear of this news. I had a friend in Bible College who took his life leaving behind his wife and children. It's hard to understand and people feel at fault and think they could've helped and wanted to help. A missionary I know as well had his own son take his life after we had graduated and did so right here in town in public. He suffered with debilitating depression. -

AJ sought help and received some. I just spoke to him on the phone a few months ago. He seems so cheerful and hopeful. The problem is with these type of illnesses things can swing in a moments notice.
Anyway he will be missed. But he is born again and with our Lord. His illness is now over. -
I remember AJ and he was attacked here relentlessly. It was such a shameful thing to watch "christians" do. His wife and son are in my prayers. I know he is with God and his suffering has finally ended although not in the way that I would have hoped.

:1_grouphug: for AJ's wife and son!
Lord we pray that You will comfort and protect this precious lady and her son to heal from someone whom they loved and called their husband and their dad. May You remind them that You have healed him completely forever!
In the name of Jesus. AMEN
Thankful to hear that he was a Christian.
I think, those who have those tendency need a lot of compassion and understand. I must admit it is hard to know how some one will react to what
we say because we are not face to face and see ones' emotion which sure help and to be able to give a shake of the hand or hug to l assure them that we do care for them.
May we all learn a lesson from this tragic situation -

He is still listed as a member here if anyone wants to see the posts. I was mistaken that he is not seekingtruth but seekingthetruth.
I have shed so many tears over this today. His son is just 9!! Pray for him that he will have some godly men step into his life to be able to grow through this without guilt, anger or bitterness. This is going to be so hard for him. -
I am sad for his family.
I read it earlier and didn't seem real, so I waited and just came back and it's still here so I guess it is.
Some things are just incomprehensible for now, but our Father understand them. He understood him and his pain, his illness, and I have no doubt he is at home now and healed for eternity.
A special blessing on his little child. -
In my prayers is his family and others who battle with this...

I remember him. How very sad, and just heartbreaking for his wife and child. I"ll be praying for them. Thanks, Annsi, for letting us know.

How horrible. The way he and others with mental illness here are treated is deplorable. It should be a bannable offense. I hope those legalistic 'fundamentalists' are proud for being part of this mans decision to end his life. I think its time for me to follow Tom Bryant out of here. :tear:

Perhaps brothers & sisters, we should use this tragedy as a wakeup call to being more gentle & compassionate to our neighbors. Are we to separate because of differences in doctrine, are we to vilify those who differ with us or are we to look (sometimes hard) to find common ground & to at least make an attempt to understand the other persons stance (in both life & theology)?
Both Toms leaving this board & John's leaving this life have taught me a great deal about both humility & repentance. If we as a Christian people are not able to show great humility & also turn from our evil ways in-order to be more Christlike, then there is hope left in the world.
Again I will say that I believe that the Prophet Micah (6:8) provides us with the solution that plagues both this Board & this World.
It is essential that we, as a people representing Christ (1) act justly, (2) love mercy & (3) walk humbly with the the Lord. -

As someone who spoke with AJ on a number of occasions and even recently I want you all to know that the posts toward him on this board was not an over arching issue for him. He was saddened that he did not have the fellowship any more but his issues were much bigger than anything said on this board.
There is an element on this board that wants to attribute poor mental health to nothing but sin. It is a idea born out of nothing but pure ignorance. And it can be very harmful. I agree it needs to stop. -

I only learned of this sad news this morning. I am so very sorry for AJ's family. They are very much in my thoughts and prayers right now .
