After you lose a war you know you spent too little. We spend too much, but our allies are deadbeats. We should be spending,g half what we spend and they should be spending twice what they spend. China is on track to pass us both on water and in air. They don't have to spend what we spend because they build their hardware at 1/3rd our cost using their near slave labor rates.
Then it is inevitable that they will overtake and pass us.
If what you claim is true, that they can spend 1/4 as much money (2% of China GDP) and build more and faster than the US spending 4x as much money (4% of US GDP) then their victory and our bankruptcy in this arms race is inevitable.
It is time to either attack preemptively or rethink our current policy of power projection.
How does following the Soviet Union into military spending our economy into collapse benefit the American people?
We have been at wartime spending levels since WW2 and spend at double the % GDP of every other nation.
Time to stop funding wars to feed a ravenous US defense industry.
Let's build some infrastructure to improve the economy.
Increase defense spending by growing GDP.
One of these days the millennials are gonna have to choose between gigantic defense spending and having their parents move in with them in retirement or Social Security and Medicare for their parents to keep their independence. I think they will choose the latter. So it is best for policy makers to start gradually removing the U.S. as the world’s policeman. After all we already $21 trillion in debt and adding about another trillion dollars to it this fiscal year.
I'm beginning to think deep state has naked pictures of him (or sumthin along those lines). Or he just played a total farce with Trump. How could he possibly stand by not take action about the blatant corruption in his department?
"Attorney General Jeff Sessions is using his legal expertise and his authority to aggressively implement President Donald Trump’s policy against illegal immigration, even as he is getting flak from the President for recusing himself from Democratic-cheered investigations into the President’s campaign and business activities.
The next step for Sessions, says source, is the release of federal regulations that will replace the 2015 Flores settlement which requires officials to release migrants within 20 days if they bring children with them over the border.
The catch-and-release settlement was created in 2015 by a judge, the ACLU, and officials working for former President Barack Obama, and it has forced officials to release hundreds of thousands of Central American migrants who bring their children into the United States.
But the pending Flores regulation is just one of several major regulatory changes which Sessions which are shutting the various border loopholes which were created by pro-migration judges, advocacy groups and agency officials over the last 20 years.
“These changes are really possible because Jeff Sessions is Attorney General,” said Mark Krikorian, director of the Center for Immigration Studies. Krikorian continued:
He both knows what has to be done, and is committed to making sure it happens. A different AG, even if he means well, would be unlikely to have both the knowledge and commitment to get these kinds of change though, and that assumes he even wanted to do so. A [George W.] Bush-retread might not even be committed to the President’s agenda … What matters are the policy changes that we are seeing, not the investigative circus which dominates the news....."
Sessions HAS been loyal to Trump in the area of illegal immigration.
Bottom line, I still waffle about Sessions. I've liked him and deep down don't want him to be a traitor. Who knows? Maybe there's something bigger to this story that is yet to come out.
