REVELATION CHAPTER 20 VERW 7-10
7When the thousand years are over, Satan will be released from his prison 8and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth—Gog and Magog—to gather them for battle. In number they are like the sand on the seashore. 9They marched across the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of God's people, the city he loves. But fire came down from heaven and devoured them. 10And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
Why is Satan going to be released after the 1000 year reign and when he is released who is going to deceive??? What nations ???

Rev 19 then shows us the "Feast of the birds" where there is no human left to bury the dead - only the birds to feed on the corpses.
This leaves the earth in the "Formless and void" state that Isaiah and Ezekiel predict as they see "cities in ruin" and as they view the whole earth saying "I looked and behold there was NO MAN".
Satan is bound on this earth in its empty - destroyed state for 1000 years.
At Christ's coming Rev 20 points out that we have "The FIRST resurrection" which is the SAME resurrection we see in 1Thess 4 at the rapture since this IS When the rapture takes place!
THEN "AFTER the 1000 years" the REST OF THE DEAD will come to life. These are they over whom the second death DOES HAVE POWER.
This where Satan is free to lead and tempt and entire planet-load of the wicked from every generation in all of time -- all raised at one time.
This where they surround the camp of the saints according to Rev 20.
This is when they are then judged and cast into the lake of fire - "the second death".
At that time - the same fire that "consumes both body and soul in fiery hell" (Matt 10) ALSO provides the starting point for the Rev 21 "New Heavens and New Earth" also mentioned in Isaiah 66.
In Christ,
Bob -
Rev 20:4-5 shows the ”First Resurrection” Which is the resurrection of the saints the “dead in Christ” as Paul says in 1Thess 4 at our “Gathering together to Him” 2Thess 2:1-4 a the “Coming of the Lord” (Both 2Thess 2 and 1Thess 4 point that out).
Rev 19 says that the living wicked are destroyed by fire and by the sword that comes from Christ “a the coming of the Lord” – it says “The rest were killed by the sword” that comes from Christ.
At that time Christ raptures the church (as He promised in John 14) and we are taken to heaven both the living AND the dead (raised at the First Resurrection). So what about the earth? Does the Bible describe earth as left without humans, dead corpses from one end of earth to another? No one left to bury the dead? Cities all destroyed? Really?
Millennium – a time without a single human remaining alive. Not a glorious place to live - but a
place where birds feeding on rotting corpses of mankind. And yet it is temporary – only lasting for 1000 years.
It is obviously a World Wide Calamity – World Wide catastrophe
Those who reject the millenium or the first resurrection rapture described in Rev 20 often declare that such conditions as we see described here -
can not exist and should be ignored.
This feast of the birds we see described again in Rev 19 where the lamb destroys certain of mankind
-
of scirptures and doesn't quite explain some. Actually I don't even remember
this theory quite like that before. Wait, wait! I remember something
from Scandinavian Pagan Mythology - the word 'RAGNAROK'.
Here is a writing of mine about scripturally sound eschatology.
BTW, the millinnial Messanic Kingdom's surviving 'other nations' come from
the sheep & goat nations judgement - that is whom Satan deceives.

Five Judgements
The Lord God is a judging God
"To judge" can mean three things in the Holy Bible:
A. to discern between good and evil (human function)
B. to condemn, usually falsely (human function)
C. to reward the just & punish the evil (Godly function)
The Five Judgements:
1. Believers for SIN on the Cross
WHO: All who will Believe
WHEN: 33AD
WHERE: Jerusalem
WHY: The Lord God is a merciful God.
HOW: The Grace of God through Messiah Jesus
WHAT: found innocent by the Bood of Jesus
How to get from judgement 1 to judgement 2
(and avoid judgements 3, 4, or 5):
Romans 10:9 (KJV): "That if thou
shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt
believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from
the dead, thou shalt be saved."
2. Judgement Seat of Christ
WHO: Believers for works
WHEN: during the Great Tribulation on earth;
Right after the Rapture/Resurrection that starts
the Tribulation
WHERE: Heaven
WHY: to assign rewards (including
the Millinnial Kingdom rest)
to the redeemed for their good works
HOW: The Grace of God through Messiah Jesus
WHAT: found innocent by the Bood of Jesus
3. Judgement of Yisrael under Antichrist
(Ezekiel 22:17-22 Time of Jacob's Trouble; Ezekiel 20:34-38;
Jeremiah 30:1-24; Revelation 6-19)
WHO: Yisrael
WHEN: during the Tribulation
WHERE: earth
WHY: The Lord God fulfills His promises
HOW: The wrath of God by Messiah Jesus
WHAT: Great Tribulation
4. Throne of His Glory judgement
(AKA: Sheep and Goats judgement, Matthew 25:31-46,
2 Cor 5:10, 1 Cor 3:11-15)
WHO: the nations: the living survivers of the Great Tribulation
(these people are NOT saved, they are human in human bodies)
WHEN: after the Great Tribulation, before the Millennial Age
WHERE: Jerusalem
WHY: The Lord God fulfills His promises: God will bless those
who bless Yisrael and curse those who curse Yisrael
HOW: Judged by their treatment of Yisrael
WHAT: the cursed to Hell; the blessed to the Millennial Age
5. Great White Throne judgement
(Revelation 20:11:15)
WHO: the wicked dead
WHEN: after the Millennial Age; before endless ages
WHERE: between Hell and the Lake of Fire
WHY: The Lord God is not mocked
HOW: The wrath of God by Messiah Jesus
WHAT: the Messiah rejectors consigned to endless punishment
NOTE: The delineation of the five revealed
judgements above does not preclude other specific
or general judgements. One place on the net i found
a chart where TWENTY-FOUR judgements were delineated.
The Lord God is a judging God and His hand is not shortened
by His revelation to us nor
by our understaning of His revelation to us.
May Jesus our Savior and our Lord be Praised!

Why is Satan going to be released after the 1000 year reign and when he is released who is going to deceive??? What nations ???
-
There are two different theories.
1. Bob's SDA theory that noone is left on the earth during the Millennium, so it has inferred that the second resurrection described in v.12 has already occurred before v.7-8, and that the fire from God that consumes them in v.9 is the lake of fire in v.15.
2. The more mainstream theory is that some nonbelievers survive the Second Coming, repopulate the earth, with the Resurrected saints rulng over them, and those who do not receive Christ by the end of the Millennium will be the ones Satan deceives, who are destroyed, then shortly resurrected and sent to the lake of fire.
The second theory can explain that the Millennuim is showing what this world would have been like under Christ's rule, before he reorders the universe for good (New Heavens, New Earth), and that even with a perfect goverment, and God's existence made obvious, people are still sinners. So those who still reject it make their final opportunity to rebel and overthrow God. The SDA theory says that the Millennuim is only for God to show the saved why their loved ones are lost, and when they are resurrected, and Satan released, this is demonstrated when they wage their final act of rebellion. -
God allows Satan to have one last throw of the dice, to reveal that all of man’s problems are caused by sin. This proves that man's problems were not caused by a poor social environment, lack of education, unemployment or anything else, but by the natural rebellion latent in every human heart. It is indisputable evidence that in the Great White Throne Judgment unbelieving mankind get their just deserts.

At the end of the 1000 years you have the "second resurrection" - the resurrection of the "unjust". (in John 5 Christ speaks of two resurrections - the resurrection of the Just - and then of the unjust) We see this in Rev 20.
Given a world of sinners - who have rejected the Gospel - Satan is in full control of "his world" and AS the text says HE arrays them against the city of God. The New Jerusalem that has come down out of heaven from God. The camp of the saints.
"The point" is that in Rev 14:10-11 we "see" that the destruction of the wicked takes place "IN THE PRESENCE" of the Lamb and of His Holy Ones. (Just as Jonathan Edwards admits).
That means that you will see the destruction of your precious loved ones that do not choose life. AT that time "it will be important" to see them making their own decisions - to be stating clearly their opposition to the kingdom of God -- to see clearly that they have chosen the banner of evil.
THEN at that time God "Destroys BOTH body AND soul in fiery hell" Matt 10.
In Christ,
Bob -
Ed's claim that the scriptures (quoted here and seen to be clearly pointing to the truth of this view) - "contradict lots of scripture" is facinating to say the least.

BobRyan: //Satan is bound on this earth in its empty - destroyed state for 1000 years.//
This statement is NOT supported with any scripture.
While Satan is bound, Jesus leads the Millinnial
Messanic Kingdom. We of the church age (the ones who get
raptured/resurrected and taken to heaven who are
given such rewards shall reign with Jesus in our
supernatuarl new bodies.
TaliOrlando: //Why is Satan going to be released after the 1000 year reign and when he is released who is going to deceive??? What nations ???//
The Bible doesn't tell why Satan is going to be released
after the 1000 year reign.
He deceives 'the nations'.
I've already told where the nations come from in an earlier post.
I believe Ezekiel 38 to be about a war early in the Tribulation
or just before the Tribulation starts.
I believe Ezekiel 39 is a second invasion of Israel
lead by Satan at the end of the Millinnial Messanic Kingdom.
Not the first clear names the nations; the second does not. -

May I?
Jesus rose from the dead, Lord, King of the Kingdom of God and heaven. The 'millennium' or 'thousand years' symbolises Jesus' reign on earth through His Church. They 'rule as priests' with Christ on His throne -- they through faith; He through having been enthroned when raised from the dead and exalted to the right hand of heavenly glory, above every name named not only in this age but in eternity to come, the Fulness that fulfils all fulness in all. Jesus had prepared a place for us, to be where He, with us, always will be.
For this He shall come again in the Father's own time, and the dead shall be raised, the wicked into damnation; the righteous into eternal glorified bodily life on this earth made new. The Second Coming and the resurrection mark the end of the thousand years and the beginning of the final retribution, when the devil and his damned over the face of the earth gang up against the City of God's People, but fire and brimstone and the seven last plagues shall consume them and all evil together forever.. -

That starts the 1000 years.
"The REST ARE KILLED" speaking of the wicked alive in Rev 19 at the second coming. The "REST of the dead did NOT come to life until AFTER the 1000 years were completed" Rev 20:5.
So ONCE the 1000 years is ended - the wicked are all raised and these are those whom Satan leads to make one last stands against God and His Holy City.

Rv20:6, "Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him thousand years. 7 And when the thousand years are expired, satan shall be loosed out of his prison ... "
Then the second death and its preamble is described, verses 8 to 14 ..."This is the second death"
Mentioned: Second death - eternal wages for sin, hell.
'First death' -- physical death of righteous implied in verse 4; of wicked implied in verse 5
The "thousand years were finished: this the first resurrection (era, was finished)", verse 5
They that have part in the first resurrection - who benefit by it, are saved through it : The era of grace and of righteousness through faith alone, the Christian dispensation - our own age before the Second Coming. This is the first resurrection!
After which Christ shall come again and deliver the wages upon the wicked and satan : NO SECOND RESURRECTION MENTIONED: ONLY THE SECOND DEATH.
No second resurrection is mentioned; -

Rev 20:4-5 (KJV1611 Edition):
And I saw thrones, and they sate vpon them, and iudgement
was giuen vnto them: & I saw the soules of them that were
beheaded for the witnesse of Iesus, and for the word of God,
and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image,
neither had receiued his marke vpon their foreheads,
or in their hands; and they liued and reigned with
Christ a thousand yeeres.
5 But the rest of the dead liued not againe vntill
the thousand yeeres were finished. This is the first resurrection.
The wrong doctrine:
FIRST = ONE AND ONLY ONE
so there is one and only resurrection of the two groups
shown in Revelation 20:4.
The correct doctrine:
FIRST means the groups that come before the latter groups.
(the ampersand '&' here shows two seperate sets of people)Click to expand...
two are implied by the two groups mentioned in verse 4.

GE:
Note that the word "is" is (wrongly) supplied in the last clause of verse 5; the verb for both clauses applicable is "finished"-telesthehi, singular, to form one sentence: "The rest of the dead ("you were dead in sin") did not become alive until finished the thousand years the (very - hauteh heh) first resurrection".
I don't dispute two 'groups'. But they co-exist throughout both the 'thousand years' of grace-rule and the moment of the last trump and the (general) resurrection of judgement. Those who were not regenerated during the Grace-era, receive the second death; but over those who received the first resurrection (spiritual rebirth unto eternal life) -- over THEM, "the second death had no power" -- of course not! -

"THE REST if the dead did not COME TO LIFE UNTIL AFTER the 1000 years was completed" Rev 20:5
The FIRST resurrection is seen clearly in Rev 20:4-5 and so also the second is identified as occuring "AFTER the 1000 years is completed".
Glaringly obvious friends.
