I'm waiting for you detailed consideration of post #61 but not holding my breath. Multiplying tweets does not contribute to the discussion.

The 70th week runs from the end of week 69 - Jesus' baptism & anointing - so ended in the mid thirties. Jesus prophesies a shortened great trib prior to the AD 70 destruction. Mat. 24:15-22, Luke 21:20-24, 1 Thes. 2:13-16. Note the present tense of verse 16.

Believers suffer tribulation at the hands of the ungodly. Unbelievers suffer eternal wrath when Jesus returns for resurrection & judgment.

Pastor Scott Markle dealt with you about your false interpretation of Daniel 9 over on another forum:

Debate - Prophecy in Daniel 9

I recall Covenanter saying something along the lines of grammar not being important in interpreting prophecy. I invite readers of this thread to read the debate over on onlinebaptist.

    Dave,
We do not think the Messiah is the 'prince that shall come' who confirms the covenant for the last week of years and sets up the abomination that maketh desolate (Dan.9:27, 12:11, 8:10-13).

    Covenenter,
If you were reading Isa.61 in Jesus day you would not have concluded the 1st part of the sentence would be fulfilled but not the last part. Neither would you have thought a 40 year gap would apply, but here you are having to acknowledge a gap.
Also David's throne is not in the heavens. If you are consistent you will not believe in the bodily return of Jesus to the earth to assume the throne of David in Jerusalem reigning over the earth. There isn't interest enough here to correct this error.
Tongues were 'like as of fire' which is not the fire of judgment in Matt.3 where the evil trees are hewn down and cast into the fire. Also the chaff is burnt with unquenchable fire- check the context (v10-12).
Your Daniel 9 interpretation doesn't really elicit a response, but thanks for sharing it.

It happened in 70 AD with the destruction of Jerusalem. But the entire New Covenant era is of great tribulation.

No - I dealt with him about his false interpretation of Daniel 9. We had a long debate with little agreement.

24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

Scott used grammar in an attempt to prove that the prophecy concerning "thy people and upon thy holy city" meant the nation of Israel & did not refer to the saving finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ at Calvary, but for the nation of Israel after a gap between weeks 69 & 70.

I used Scripture & arithmetic to show the prophecy runs for 490 years, ending in the 30s. It refers to the finished saving work of the Lord Jesus Christ at Calvary for all the redeemed, beginning with the people of Israel from all round the empire, & including "all families on earth."

That was NOT the Great tribulation event, as the world at large was not affected, and John wrote about it still to come in Revelation, after AD 70!

“After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb. And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God, Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen. And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they? And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.” (Revelation 7:9–14)

John sowed us things which must shortly come to pass.
“The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:” (Revelation 1:1)

The point is that when the events of the last days described in revealtion start to happen, will be happening quickly, not right at that time!

You are trying to say that the Great Tribulation does not apply to the seven-year reign of the anti-Christ, and you are wrong.

There is no 7 year reign of Antichrist. If you think Daniel 9 teaches this, you deny that he teaches Jesus paid for our sins. And you make Jesus out to be the Antichrist. Serious error....

The events of Revelation began unfolding before John wrote it.

So when John was writing about the future, he was already writing about the past? How do you know all of that?

“He [Jesus] will confirm a covenant [the New Covenant] with many for one week. But in the middle of that [70th] week he will bring sacrifices and offerings to a halt [offering himself as the atonement for sin, thereby abolishing the Old Covenant]. On the wing of abominations will come one who destroys, [Titus] until the decreed end is poured out [Rome's fall] on the one who destroys.”” (Daniel 9:27)
