You are a bitter man, sir.

This post is nothing more than flaming. You have anger issues.

If they were flaunting their basketball skills, would it be evil?

If they are enjoying doing something that is perfectly okay, then there should be no problem.

If they were flaunting drunkenness, then it would be a sin.

Flaunting that they enjoy alcohol just like God intended for man to enjoy it is not at all wrong.

    I am thankful for that.

Because here the extreme opposite is the case.

And I am quite sure that almost no one on Puritanboard is against a person personally abstaining. I am sure that almost everyone feels that is his right. I am certain that they are just against advocating abstinence as if that it the godly thing to do when, biblicallly, it is not.

Almost ANYTHING can be very dangerous if not controlled.

A vehicle can be very dangerous if not controlled.

A fire can be very dangerous if not controlled.

A gun can be very dangerous if not controlled.

A child can be very dangerous if not controlled.

The teetotalers, utilizing that argument would rob us of all these things that God allows us to have for the betterment of the quality of life down here.

Gun crime is a terrible evil, too.

Thousands of people believe it is unChristian to own, much less CARRY a gun.

Why not abstain from gun ownership?

There are SEVEN BILLION people on planet earth today. TWO BILLION of them claim to be Christians.

Among that lot there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING that you can do that will not offend somebody.

So drink if it is not a sin.

Carry a gun if it is not a sin.

But don't drink in a weaker brothers home and don't drink in a church full of weaker brethren and don't carry a gun in the home or church of people who, for whatever ridiculous reason, think that it is a sin to do so.

    It's really not that complicated.

You mean they are not holier than thou Baptists? I mentioned on here that my wife's family from the Scots Highlands are sending some well aged Scotch for a toast at my sons wedding and someone on here had a coniption fit...made it sound like it was a sin to toast the health and welfare of the couple. Or heaven forbid having a wee dram now & again is a deal breaker to ones salvation! If this is nonsence is the price of being a Baptist, where do I resign?:BangHead:

Before the middle of the nineteenth century NOBODY had a problem with alcohol drank in moderation.

I hate the backwards stupidity that has made so many things sin which God never condemned.

As a pastor you would not BELIEVE the number of people I have tried to reach that will not come to church because they were raised with the STUPID idea that even drinking the occasional beer was great sin.

They say, "I will not be a hypocrite. Until I am ready to lay down alcohol altogether, I will not go to church and pretend I am something that I am not."

And while some are stupid enough to think this is noble, I see that it is stupidity that is keeping this person away from the Word of God- stupidity perpetuated at CHURCH!!!!

Genuine matters of conscience are the issue, and your conclusion is not Paul's. The fact of the matter is your brother is less to you than your belly. You cannot make any other argument for not taking the liberty to abstain.

So my question is, why esteem your belly above your brother?

So my brothers choice to drink or not to drink doesn't enter into the picture?

Don't drink and don't carry guns.
All society needs now is a bunch of gun-carrying drunks!

Actually it is called "having a heart of repentance," but does hard determinism allow for repentance?
