Just a preview of heaven to come!

Also, my pastor knows really well cal/Arm?non Cal etc so its not like he hates DoG, just that he believes that God can save whosoever wills, but still MUST come to jesus of the Cross/Bible, not the false One of false Gospel so much in church today!

He does hold that while any can get saved, that the Holy Spirit has to oen that person up to receive the Gospel first, as sinners cannot come to jesus by just 'act of their will"...

Bishop, elder and pastor describe the same person.

I could easily call my pastor Elder or Bishop.

Some Baptist churches have a pastor, multiple elders and deacons, but the vast majority of Baptist churches have only pastor(elder, bishop) and deacons. A plurality of elders in a Baptist church is of fairly recent vintage.

You folks dont seem to understand that this "anxious bench," alter call stuff is part of a greater problem. 1st off my reformed believing brethren, its rooted in the Non Calvinistic (Arminian) theology of conversion, which maintains that sinners are neutral & free to choose their own spiritual destiny. Whereas the Reformed & Calvinistic believer insists that depravity prevents anyone from choosing for Christ apart from the prior work of the Holy Spirit.... so what you are doing my Reformed brethren is endorsing people to exercise their own ability to receive the gospel (what folly!)

Charles Finney explicitly rejected Doctrines Of Grace.... what I see here is that you folks are beginning to (like Finney did) turn your backs on the subjects of atonement, regeneration, faith, repentance etc. I believe that any true orthodox Christian believer would consider that repugnant. You however embrace it---NOT GOOD!

Yes, the word episkopos is a later word. Presbuteros preceded it.

Why in the world would Calvinists have an altar call? What would be the point?

Think that we are asking the persons who was just enabled by the HS work to come forward to confirm that their election by/of God is true by placing faith in Christ and get saved!

NOT saying they come of free will violation, something they are doing themselves, but that God is at working bring those whom He chose to save to salvation by the message they just heard in the Church that day!

But wouldnt going for 'statistics' be going against the doctrine of sovereignty?

I mean, if God is the only persuader, then why do we preach to the lost? Why do we evangelise?

And why would we have an altar call just to produce statistics that we had nothing to do with?

Wouldnt that be giving the church (man) the credit instead of God?

I am not a primitive baptist, so see the Gospel as the agent /means that God established to be able to allow God to save those whom he has elected to receive eternal life in Christ!
