I hear you.

How about this as used by those you've described:

Rom 10:13 for "WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED."

Where did all this come from?

Ask Christ into your heart

Invite Christ into your life

Pray this little prayer after me

Could this be why the majority of church members are lost?
I thought you were convicted, repented and you couidn't keep him out THIS IS THE SUPERNATURAL

You forgot to add "make your election and calling sure!"

I wonder what will the next generation say about the current generation in leadership?

Have you ever been in a highly evangelistic church that did not give an invitation? The most evangelistic church I have seen does not give an invitation but you will not get out the door until someone asks about your spiritual condition. They disciple people and part of that, is learning to share their faith. Each year they send out about two percent of their congregation as full time missionaries. Most of them go to other countries.

I always figured Calvinists just waited until the hand of God bodily picked them up and carried them down the aisle.

There is nothing...nothing whatsoever about going down an aisle, going up an aisle, going down the basement, going to the fellowship hall,,,, that does anything .
The Holy Spirit deals with a human spirit anywhere. No physical action gives spiritual life......even a hearing ear comes from God.

the message preached should be the invitation....if people have to tack things on it...it was lacking in some way.

When God convicts and effectually draws a sinner...they know it.

Baptism is the public display of believe in Christ. This is how we acknowledge those who have come to Christ.

I ask two questions. First, what is the Gospel? Secondly, describe how you came to beleive in the Gospel.

I am not sure I like the word "validate", but we do ask many questions and get into details on the Gospel and their understanding. We also want to see a changed life.

While there can be issues with people making a mental assent with just head knowledge, so is there with those making an emotional assent while being ignorant. We want to avoid both. Our New members class is for Christians who have been Baptized and are joining us from another church. We want them to know us better and we want to know them better. Our membership class is designed to meet those two needs.

Our Baptism discussions include the membership issues but we also focus on the salvation of the individual.

They should have an accurate understanding of the Gospel, have a credible profession of faith, and are demonstrating the fruit of the Spirit.

We take them through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We encourage them to repent and believe in Jesus Christ for the remission of sins.

We believe in faith, faith is the evidence of God's predestination.

You do not have to believe in the Calvinism in order to be saved, but you have to believe in the Gospel.
Very good and it's actually something I agree with. At least if a man isn't sincere He isn't going to stand up in church and lie with out the whole church knowing it,, is he?. Now wait a minute..... Or isn't he. Actually no one really knows if one is saved the moment he says he is because, no man on earth can see the man's heart.

Is it possible for a man to be "sincerely wrong?"

As I said above, I prefer to use the Lord's Supper for the altar call. I find that scenario in Acts. As they ate together and remembered what the Lord did (the gospel) people were added to their numbers.

As the church "takes the table to remember their Lord's actions on their behalf," you take Christ if He is drawing you to Himself!

doesn't Apostle John inform us the chief purpose of His Gospel was to allow us to make sure that we do have eternal life now in the Son of God?

John 20:31 and 1 John 5:13 (ESV)

...but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life.
