I am having a discussion about this on another message board and I would like to hear your guys opinion.
1. Is the woman Mary or Isreal? I hold that she's Isreal becasue her being Mary doesn't make sense, along with the symbolism of the 12 stars on her and what not.
2. Are the stars being cast down a refrence to fallen angels. I had always assumed they were, but I've come across the opinion that they are Isreal refering back to how Isreal was to be numbered like the Stars in the OT (Gen 26:4, Ex 32:12, DT 10:22, NE 9:23...etc.) I have yet to coem across a verse that equates Angels with stars. Also since if the stars are angels they are cast down to earth by Satan, yet then they are back fightening in Heaven in verse 7, and cast out again in verse 9.
Any help getting this sorted out would be very much appreciated.

Try this way of thinking... The Old Testament is The New Testament consealed and The New Testament is The Old Testament revealed. This is especially important when studying the book of Revelation!... Brother Glen

The great harlot referred to in the Bible is neither Mary nor Israel. She represents all the people in the world who have rejected the word of God. She is a whore and adulteress. Here's the comparison. The Christian church is the bride of Christ. Meaning we are faithful as a bride to the word of God through Jesus. Just like a pledged wife is supposed to be faithful to her betrothed. Key word "faithful." The harlot (or whore) is not faithful to the bridegroom Jesus and spends all her time cheating on Jesus by her adulteries and refusal to honor the commitment (covenant) with God. There you go. Hope this helps.
