What do you believe it means to be righteous?
TO BE in Christ Jesus, because I have none of my own. My righteousness is as filthy rags. -
But there ARE righteous men.
"The prayer of a righteous man availeth much." -
I think Sue their righteousness comes from being in Christ, outside of Christ there can e no righteousness. We are not capable of righteousness, nor do we on our own desire righteousness. It is the Holy Spirit in us who desires righteousness for us. Righteousness comes not from any actions on our part, bt a right relationship with Jesus.
Seeking righteousness through our actions is not righteousness, but legalism. -
Righteous means to be right, made right in God's sight. I believe a man can be righteous, only through Christ in us. He has made us righteous,so we can live righteously. The only way we do not sin(live rightly),is because of His strength in us.

Yes,I do...I believe like the Psalmists says in Psalm 19...that the Word of God is everything we need to live righteously!

Where does the Holy Spirit fit in to being righteous?
Joseph Botwinick -
Being spirit filled means walking in obedience...which would be righteous living.
How am I doing?

So far, everything you say seem to sound like something I would read in scripture. So, I would say you are doing pretty good.
Now, what role does understanding diversity play in being righteous?

Dr. Bob,
Thank you for your answer. So, your righteousness is not of yourself, because man is naturally sinfull and unrighteous. Yet, it is from God and your faith in Jesus Christ. It is revealed to you through scripture which reaps the seeds of repentance of sin and then the Holy spirit regenerates you and saves you from sin and reaps the fruits that was sown through scripture by bringing you to salvation and making you righteous in God's eyes. Is that a good summary of what you believe? Please forgive me if I have mis-stated anything.

Quick question for you, Joseph, since you brought up diversity . . .
Is that an avenue you'd care to travel in the diversity thread over in GBD? There are scriptural bases for embracing certain forms of diversity, and if obedience to Scripture is a key to righteousness in Christ, it might be prudent to discuss it. I'm sure there are others who don't post in this forum out of respect for those who first desired its institution that would be interested in a little discussion transferrence.
