Interesting debate. Both appeared confident and preapared. The moderator did a good job. She has always done a good job when I have seen her interview people on The New Hour.
Though they took jabs at each other I was pleased that they remained civil and polite. That was refreshing.
Palin is a good speaker and did a good job in answering questions on energy. In other areas I was disappointed. She continually did not answer questions but went back to her "we are mavericks and will change Washington." I have nothing wrong with that idea. In fact it is a good idea, but the devil is in the details. But she never says how they will change Washington. I think there is a bit of a credibility gap in that McCain has played on this idea a lot during the campaign, but he voted with the in-crowd on the bail-out mess. No mavarick there.
Yes, but not good enough.
Biden clearly had more command of the facts and won the debate.
Palin even told us she would not answer the questions of the moderator and would respond as she chose.
That's exactly what she did.
She dodged the questions she didn't have a clue on which were many.
I expect you will be soon critical of him in this area, won't you ?
Biden's lies will be counted and displayed for you all to deny tomorrow, right before the Grizzlies get on T.V., by me. It's easy to have command of facts you make up as you go along. Right now, I have a gig.
Palin talked to the people, right over Biden & wasserface.
True.
I believe she lost a number of people who were leaning toward her when she said she would not answer the questions of the moderator. And she was true to her word. She gave lots of little canned speeches, but, except for the issue of energy, she gave no real answers. She also failed to mention when talking about the pipeline that Canada has not agreed to having it built and there is opposition in Canada concerning the project.
Palin is a good speaker. She has good facial expressions. She did better than most people expected and would have probably hit a home run if she had answered questions with facts. Continually talking about how she and McCain are mavericks and will change DC, but presenting no ideas on how they will do that did not help her cause.
That means she did what every other debater does  Seriously, I dont think this will hurt her. Obama and McCain did the same thing. So did Biden.
I think Biden effectively responded to Palin's soccer mom routine by talking about his neighborhood in Scrantan, PA.
That was her best shot and she blew it.
I liked how she kept catching Joe in his lies by quoting his own words against him.
Then best of all was when he tried to deny that BHO specifically said that he would sit down with rogue dictators without preconditions.
She simply quoted what BHO said and pointed out that Biden could say whatever he wants during the debate one month away from the election, but that tomorrow (today) all the political pundits would have the transcripts and the sound bites and the American people would know the truth.
One problem, 5 heads of states agreed with Obama in some form or another. The reality is, this thing of not talking to foreign leaders until they agree to do everything we say just isn't working. And we need to talk to the leaders in the middle east. Perhaps the president shouldn't talk directly but America needs to have someone say something.
Your last sentence. No one here or from the McCain/Palin ticket is saying that we should completely rule out diplomacy. However, it was BHO who specifically said that he would sit down across the table from the world's rogue dictators without preconditions. You can't get around that statement and they can't lie (although both have tried to lie in both debates) and say that he never said it, it's the record.:tonofbricks:
