I'm saying we should not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers, and this includes joining the military. Where we place ourselves under the control of unbelievers instead of Christ.

As Paul said RE: being unequally yoked with unbelievers:

1 Corinthians 5:10 Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world.

And then "Where we place ourselves under the control of unbelievers instead of Christ".

1 Peter 2
13 Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;
14 Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.

So lets go marry whoever we will, Christian or not. And lets forget what Jesus says, and let unbelievers use us any way they see fit.

That may be your desire but not my desire for myself.

Perhaps others may comment for themselves as well.

I'm consistent in not being unequally yoked to unbelievers. Many are not.
That depends upon your definition of "yoke".

e.g.
If you go to a grocery store owned by an unbeliever you "yoke" yourself to him/her when you purchase something and subsequently pay for the commodity.

In that exchange you put your stamp of approval upon the merchant's value system because the profit she/he receives from your momentary settlement he/she uses to sustain and promote his/her godless lifestyle.

Isn't Paul saying that believers should not be partners with unbelievers?

My point, which I think you picked up on, is that: We each draw the line of complicity with evil in the sand differently as the scripture is fuzzy in that area.

We do have a general principal of avoiding offense to the brother/sister in particular the babes in Christ.

Of course we each will answer for the "X/Y Coordinates" of that line and offenses thereby at the Bema seat (Deeds done in the body).

God's word tells us that the powers that be do not bear the sword in vain, but are there to maintain order in society and that to resist or refuse to serve is to resist or refuse to serve God.

Romans 13:1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.
3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:
4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.

I served proudly in the US Army for many, many years. I was a minister of God to contain the spread of Godless communism.

I am a disabled vet as a result of that service and praise God for the opportunity He gave me to serve honorably and faithfully as His minister for good.

Those who resist such service resist the God who ordains such service.

This is true, but the civil magistrate is God's secular arm of the law. Nowhere are we told to adopt the magistrates role and manner of dealing with people. If I cannot lay up treasure as a Christian, how can I shoot someone for stealing treasure I myself cannot collect?

I see. So the Nazis were not murdering millions of innocent men, women, and children? They were just pilfering a few valuables?

What does the Bible say about Protecting The Helpless?

Psalm 82:3-4 Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.”

Proverbs 31:8-9 Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute. Open your mouth, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy.

Isaiah 1:17 Learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow's cause.

Proverbs 24:11-12 Rescue those who are being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter. If you say, “Behold, we did not know this,” does not he who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not he who keeps watch over your soul know it, and will he not repay man according to his work?

All wars are about money so the principle I set forth remains. We are taking this thread off topic by heading in this direction. We should open a "What If" thread exploring everyone's responses to violence as a Christian.

You just can't help it, can you? Your own self-righteousness has convinced you that you are holier than anyone. Even holier than God. His word is meaningless when it contradicts your anti-scripture denial of what He has to say on the subject. :)

That is why we need a new thread so we can see everyone's convictions about violence and how we handle it according to scripture.

We're not talking about the Jews. But try to find a war that wasn't about money or territory.

Money, territory and in the case of WW2 the subjugation and subsequent torture and killing of people not like you. If there ever was a war that we had to fight it was WW2 and when our soldiers liberated the concentration camps in Europe proved that. Then in the Pacific, where the Japanese acted horrendously to the people in the countries they controlled. God used the young men of the free nations as his means of defeating the evil regimes who were causing atrocities that were happening around the world. We dropped 2 atom bombs on Japan and they rightly deserved both of them.

But you don't believe we should have stopped it? We should have let it continue?
I don't want to move beyond what scripture says. It has a lot to say about believers and separation from the world. Believers not being unequally yoked with unbelievers. The removal of unbelievers from Israel and their plight among the nations. If you would like to discuss any of this, maybe we can stop taking this thread off topic and begin a new one?
