Did you feel it ? Only if you live here in Southern California. Once again, the earth, which appears to be as solid as the 'Rock of Gibraltar', disappointed me, as a sudden jolt, was followed by that nauseating rolling motion under the ground that our home is built on.
This is our fifth major jolt and roll since Easter Day, and it is the first time in 16 years (of living in Perris Valley) that my wife and I have felt successive quakes.
In 16 years, the only quake we felt was 9 years ago, up until Easter 2010. Of course, we'd hear about quakes all around us (as close as 20 miles away from our home town), but, we never felt the effects of those quakes.
I can tell you folks this: Something is truly amiss on planet earth! And, all this shaking brings to mind the warning that Jesus gave His disciples about the end times in Matt. 24:7, Mark 13:8, Luke 21:11. He reminded them that with wars, rumors of wars, and earthquakes in divers places would be nothing like the coming tribulation man would feel. If these are merely 'birth pangs' the church is blessed to know that we'll be gone for most of the 'fireworks' during the coming world-wide tribulations.
The church should never lose sight of the fact, that Jesus will return like a 'thief in the night' which is Word of caution to be ready, at any time, to fly away !!!:wavey:

Paul,
Maybe it's the reversing of the magnetic poles as the History Channel is touting on their 2012 series. This could be just the beginning of the earth changing due to shifts in the poles. Ya never can tell? The History Channel is usually full of garbage, but maybe this time they have good info. -

Point Noted, my Brother
Still, whatever the reason, earthquakes still SHAKE me up, RATTLES my nerves, and ROLLS like a Tsunami going under the foundation of my house.
You just hold your breath, and pray it doesn't keep going!
Hope you' re well, as I haven't heard from you in a while. :wavey:

RD, this might be totally unrelated, especially since we live on opposite coasts, but my dog was acting absolutely crazy yesterday and the night before. I asked hubby if there was an earthquake somewhere, because there was no known reason for her to act the way she did. Kind of makes me scratch my head.

So Paul.....why do you live there?

Our small town is right under the most destructive, but little known, fault in the lower 48, the New Madrid fault. In 1811, there were a series of three quakes above 8.0 that formed Reelfoot Lake and reversed the course of the Mississippi River for a time. Of course, there were not many people living here at the time. We are overdue for one. This time, places like St Louis, Memphis, and a lot of bridges crossing the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers would be very likely destroyed. That does not count all the small towns and smaller bridges in the area.
The fault is not publicized like the ones in California, but it is there. We have tremors every few years. In December 1990, a professor from some western college, (I do not recall his or the institutions name) made a prediction of a major quake on three specific days in December. It so spooked to people, no one would send their kids to school, and they were closed. Nothing happened, but I say all this to add to the point Pastor Paul is trying to make. If the Lord wanted to get our attention, let this fault and the ones in California start at the same time.
Call me a hyper whatever, but I do agree with Pastor Paul on this point. Things are happening with increasing frequency and intensity. Whether it be earthquakes, hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, or even events of our own doing like the oil spill, things are picking up speed to a conclusion that cannot sustain this pace. It is not just events, it is also the love of people for one another grows colder every passing year. We are more me, myself, and I than ever. We not only sin, we make it the law of the land and proclaim to God we are proud of it. We deny the Lord at every turn a place in our society, and try to confine Him to church buildings.
We have in fact, become the exact image of the first few chapters of Romans. -
Hi Righteousdude;
I read California has had 19 earth quakes so far this year above the magnatude of 3.0. I would think you should move to more stable ground.

Those earthquakes in the early 19th century you spoke of had preachers saying Jesus was coming back soon.

That's OK, Your Dog is Telling You Something...
We noticed it, and started to see earthquakes, all around the Pacific Rim, within 24 to 36 hours after he going under the stool for an hour or, two.
She did this twice this week, and Monday I read that Japan had a 5, or, 6.0 quake. She did this again Tuesday evening and sure enough, we got to shaken yesterday.
So far, she is batting 1.000.. So, keep an eye on your dog, and start counting the hours and look for the stories, often buried deep in your local paper.
Your dog and you are not crazy, just sensitive to something going on in the depths of this Terra-fir ma.

Well, That the Thousand Dollar Question...
Secondly, moving takes money, and that is not available to someone on a small government pension and SSDI.
I guess you have to just trust God to have your back, front, top and bottom, as well as both sides at all times.

Look At This
You can doubt all you want, but, take a look at this USGS Map of the Pacific Rim and all the activity there the past 8 to 30 days.
SEE: http://neic.usgs.gov/neis/qed/
This may make you a believer..... that something big is on the horizon.

That's a New One to Me...
This is something that believers need to be involved in, because, the shaking of the earth is a 'birth pang' warning us of the return of Christ.
It doesn't take much to review the USGS maps and info to see that earthquake events are up a hundred fold over the last decade, or, so.:BangHead:
