Should a Christian get tattoos

Certain ignorant tribes people believe that putting large saucers behind their lips enhances their appearance. Yet they have never convinced me that it does, any more that those who believe tattoos enhance their appearance..

Now we see who won't answer the question. Isn't it funny how the inspired words of the bible say that cuttings and markings in the flesh are for the dead and some think it a stretch to make the connection?

 

Paul, most who get tattoos now days don't do it for the dead. You are stretching the word of God. In fact, you are adding to the Word of God by saying differently. If you are going to use the Bible to support your position then please use it correctly.

 

I think tattoos and piercings in moderation are sexy on women. At least on sexy women. It kinda enhances their sexiness.

On old or fat women they're just gross. Kinda like slacks. Old and fat women should wear skirts all the time—and certainly no half-shirts. And not get any tattoos or piercings. Since they have little physical beauty, their beauty should be Scriptural—a meek and quiet spirit.

That's just for old or fat women, though.

And my daughters.

No, God said markings and cuttings in the flesh are for the dead and not to do so.

What you call "correctly" is your opinion while all the time God connects these with deadness.

Deadness of spirit and desire to please the flesh by alterations of the flesh are the same thing.

The bible just keeps on saying the same thing no matter how hard you object or how loud you scream.

 

I beg to differ with you Paul, but it is obvious that you are reading into the scripture that which isn't there. I hate tattoos but I'm not going to falsely use the Bible to support my position.

 

God inspired the words to say markings in the flesh, which includes tattoos, are not to be made for the dead. You say there are tattoos that are not made for the dead, but God said markings are not to be made for the dead. You say you hate tattoos, God says not to make markings in the flesh for the dead. Tattoos are markings in the flesh. The synonomous connection is there for anyone but you to see.

I cannot help you. You refuse to see the connectivity. You are left begging to differ with that which is obvious.

I don't read between the lines when it comes to the Bible which causes one to draw conclusions which simply aren't there. And, what's sadder is that those false conclusions can be used to condemn people based on a false premise.

 

And who have I condemned? I like tattoos that aren't demonic or lude, it's just God speaks against all markings in the flesh. You're the one operating from the opinion of hatred. I suppose your view insists the tattoos on Jews by Nazis was ok too? The Nazis knew how humiliating it was to them.

Jews and Nazis? Brother, we are talking about your average John Doe and Jane Doe tattoo. Were talking about your dumb soldier, biker want to be, football lineman, etc.

Opinion of hatered? Yes, I hate tattoos personally just like I hate lemon peels in some asian dishes. Tattoos really don't float my boat and lemon peels make me want to puke. But, I can't use the Bible to support my persoanl taste concerning tattoos at least not in the way that you are.

 

I remember an older version of that one by Jerry Jeff Walker.

 

I almost got a tattoo while stationed in Korea in 1991. I am not sure of the reason I didn't get one then. If I were to get one now, I would probably get it on the shoulder blade, but I don't really see that happening.

 

The bible just keeps on saying the same thing and creeds are formulated there.
