Blacks left out of this years nominations for an Academy Award: http://www.people.com/article/oscars-2016-cheryl-boone-isaacs-lack-of-diversity
I think, and again; it is merely my opinion .... but the fuss about this year's Academy Awards not having any black actors or directors or movies nominated, is more about sour grapes than anything else! If an actor, director, writer or movie doesn't come up to certain standards, just to nominate because of ones, skin color or racial persuasion is ludicrous. I do hope that the Academy Awards doesn't become just one more Equal-Opportunity Event, where diversity is a determining factor on who gets nominated or not!
Once again, this is another attempt to bully the members of all other races, by black activists. I have not heard people protesting that the Black Actors Awards (http://blackmovieawards.com/index.php?p=about)needs to include members of the academy who are other than black? http://www.huffingtonpost.com/trey-ellis/white-actors-shutout-at-b_b_6483476.html
And I never hear members of their races or cultures or ethnic backgrounds complaining that all the black colleges and universities in America need to become integrated?
When will the craziness stop? When those who are black stop with the idea that something is done a particular way because of white supremacy? Once again, I hope and pray that the members of the Academy are not racists, because if they are, that would destroy my faith in mankind! I also pray that no one tries to insert the need for diversity in this yearly event based on government regulations!
I for one did not think that a movie telling the story of a bunch of rappers from Compton, that had a number-one song spreading hate towards cops, and a name who spoke of nothing but "anger" should be considered for an award. It didn't meet the criteria, and screaming, stomping your feet, holding your breath, protesting and boycotting the awards will never cause a change. If you want to be considered for the prestigious Golden Oscar, try making movies that are not directed towards one audience, in particular, instead try making movies that wholesome and inviting to audiences of all colors and cultures!
Was this year's nomination for awards meant to be an anti-black snub statement? Or was it reality?
Should the Academy Awards be an EEO Event?

The Academy is already caving to pressure. It is a shame that some in Hollywood are caught in the old "black and white" movies. We have come so far, what with cinema color films, and THX, the old non talking flicks are in the past. It is time to move beyond black vs white.

I'm boycotting the Oscars.
Not really. I never watch them in the first place. Buncha self-serving millionaires giving each other awards for how well they serve up fiction to the paying public.... -
And the old one from California thinks this is just sour grapes.
It's real easy when all but one President, just about every Senator in history, just about every Fortune 500 executive, all of the billionaires, and people with any type of power in politics and the media look like the majority of folks in this country have for 400 years.
This inability to recognize or empathize with any POV except that of old, white people to the point of anger is TRULY one of the primary things that has divided the country by skin color. -

Honestly, I couldn't, and do not, care less about the Academy Awards. It's a fool's game to think that they matter and I've usually never seen the movies anyways. If the Academy is overly white than that's a problem for them to work out. Hollywood, for all its liberal zeal, is ironically racist in many ways. Of course, scandalous white women have a tendency to sell lots and lots of movie tickets than other nationalities and that's a well know economic fact.
I do think that RD has a good point in posting the OP. Should provide good food for discussion. -

Let's see--there are the rich white liberal Democrat movie stars versus the Black Lives Matter. It's Democrat vs. Democrat. Yeah, let's you and him fight.
