The Middle Verse Of The King James Bible
Do you know...
1) Psalms 118 is the middle chapter of the entire Bible?
2) Before Psalms 118, Psalms 117 is the shortest chapter in the Bible?
3) After Psalms 118, Psalms 119 is the longest chapter in the Bible?
4) That there are 594 chapters each before and following Psalms 118?
5) That if you add up all the chapters except Psalms 118, you get a total of 1188 chapters.
6) And incidentally, 1188 or Psalms 118 verse 8 also happens to be the middle verse of the
King James Bible. (Other versions omit many verses so this is not applicable to them.)
The central verse should have a fairly important message don't you think?
It does!
It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.
(Psalm 118:8)
7) By the way, the middle two words of this verse are also the central thought of this verse,
and, even the central thought of the entire Bible. They are:
…the LORD…
Isn't it amazing how God arranged his book? Simply Amazing!
SIMPLY AMAZING!

All those 1's and 8's all over the place, can only be a reference to Westcott & Hort's Greek NT of 1881.

I'm pretty skeptical of such arguments, but wow!

I'm currently checking the results for myself... -
Yep, the center chapter is 117, not 118. Oh well.

Bibliolaters worship the Book. They hold it up and incant its praises. Magical. Mystical.
Instead of using the Book to praise King Jesus.
THAT is simply amazing. -
If people loved the King of Kings as much as they loved the King of England, Christianity would be better off.

Thank you Homebound. You are correct in that the middle verse of the Bible is Ps. 118:8. This fact cannot be discerned by finding the middle chapter, but if you ignore all the chapter divisions and find the middle verse, you will find that Ps. 118:8 is the middle verse.

That is simply PAR for the course. -
Perhaps you could tell us which Bible you are actually using. If you are using the inferior 1769 REVISION, then your Bible does not qualify as a King James Bible. Not only was King James dead by 1769, so were the translators of the TRUE Authorised Version that I use. -
More like "simply superstitious": meaningless number-worship, from the same crowd that brought us "acrostic algebra."
-
Maybe I'm Wrong But didn't a R Catholic first divide the text into chapters and verses. It sure wasn't King James or anyone connected with him.
-
What is simply amazing is that this kind of thing merits serious consideration.

Why? If the numbers had worked out, it would have been pretty hard to dismiss as coincidence. God providentially works through history, correct? I wonder if Psalm 118:8 really is the central verse,,,,

No, not really. -
