Up until last year, I rarely got sick. But in the last 18 months I've probably had 8 or 9 sinus infections, and 4 since October (although I think it's just been 1 giant one that hasn't gone away).
Antibiotics don't really help, and I think it might be fungal, not bacterial.
I have read where people use these neti pots and it helps keep them at bay (as well as taking things like Claritan, which I do have some allergies).
Thoughts?
Sinus Infections: Neti Pots...you guys tried this?

Try this, it works:

Do it a couple times a day, or at least once. -
Is this basically doing the same thing?
Where does the water drain? How is it clearing? The neti pot rushes the junk out the other nostril. How does this work (I read the link, still a bit confused). -
It will drain down your throat, but just a little. You only have to spray it a second or two (up to three seconds).
I'd avoid the neti pot, some folks have used it with tap water...died, because they got a brain eating amoeba in the tap water that killed them. Kind of turned me off from doing those.
Ocean is sterile, the saline helps clear you out. It does work, and you don't have to mess around mixing something for the pot, all in one unit it, good to go, not as gross as the pot. They're a little pricey, about 15.00, but they last a long time and it works. -
I did read about people using tap water...instructions say don't do that. As with anything, gotta use common sense.
I just grabbed some bottled water and used it. I'm still going to try to find that Ocean stuff tonight though, give it a try to and see which I like better. -
Bottled water might not be pure either, from my understanding. Some of it is basically tap water too.

distilled water is your best bet. Do not use tap water, especially if you live in the south. A couple of people in Louisiana died within the last year using tap water for their neti pot and amoebas got into their brain and killed them. Amoebas can and do exist in tap water. Ingesting them is safe. If they get in the nose you're a goner.

I deal with chronic sinus infections and am an avid user of my neti pot! I absolutely love it! When meds don't seem to be helping, one use of my neti pot can provide some fast relief. It's great!
