Isn't that cute? One Demcratic and one Republican governor in jail. Maybe they can share a cell. The prosecutor in this case seems to be a straight shooter and goes after any corruption, without regard to party.

I'd like to back Obama on this one....
He has stated he had NO contact with the governor, and despite his numerous lies & obfuscations, I'm gonna believe him, until someone can prove otherwise.
And doesn't Il have like 5 govs in jail ? Three repubs ? -

Another one bites the dust! Yet another corrupt politician out to line his own pockets. Good riddance, moron!
-
I believe that a decent Republican candidate could have beaten The Worst Governor Ever in 2006, but after Jim Edgar decided not to run, there weren't many good candidates that had the name recognition and the money to challenge him. Unfortunately, Blago probably won't resign without a fight and will continue running the state into the ground.
Illinois needs another Jim Edgar.

How about Tiny Ditka against a team of Blagojevich, Obama and Durbin?
Ditka!!
Blago getting arrested made my day. Have fun in jail, Blago! :wavey: -
Sad... I glad this came to a head before the Obama administration started giving out the checks. This would have been bad for Obama if he was giving out the bailout checks then find out how dirty this joker was.
It also looks like this was the fourth corrupted Governor of IL.
Rod Blagojevich
George Ryan
Dan Walker
Otto Kerner
Were all Gov's that served time. Even split, 2 Dems and 2 GOP.
I think NY will be next.
Oh, and by the way, he is still the Gov and still had the power to fill Obama seat. Imagine that? -

It isn't over. He is tied to Rezko and more revelations may come about a number of other folks. He wasnt involved all by himself. -
Here is another interesting article...

Obama has went on record saying he hasn't talked to the gov. about the senate seat..
but here we have the gov saying that Obama refused to donate...
HOw could Obama refuse, if he hadn't had the chance to refuse, which means he did (or someone from his office) talked to the gov.
I too am impressed that Obama kept his integrity...
But I am not fully believing that Obama's people had no contact with the Gov... or his wife... -
I hope in the end Obama did keep his integrity but politics is full of politicians... -

The mafia were strong in Chicago and Springfield in the 20's and 30's.
In Illinois, what Chicago wants, Chicago gets. We down-staters don't have a chance.

Interesting article on Bloomberg on the culture of corruption in Chicago politics.

I may not like his ideology, but I do believe he is a genius of a politician, and would know not to mix with Blago..(er.. I never can spell his name right.. ) especially since he was already under investigation...
But some of Obama's people may have.
If the rumor is true that Emanuel ratted the governor out, then Obama will come out a real winner. A guy that helped clean up Chicago politics. -
Do you? -
Probably, Tim! :) I know how to read too!
My dad was an Illinois state trooper during those times and I grew up hearing all those stories. His vehicle was a motorcycle and his territory was from Chicago to Springfield. They didn't have 'districts' to patrol then.
He was born in 1900. He became a trooper after he got back from France after serving in WWI. -
It was only a matter of time before Blago was going to go down. These latest escapades have only served to hit the accelerator on the process. Peter Fitzgerald is the same guy who brought George Ryan down, and I have complete confidence that he's going to add another political scalp to his collection. I don't live in Illinois anymore, but it will be a good day when Blago gets convicted. -
This guy is an idoit just like most all of the politicans..
Another reason we need to band together and kick these jerks out of office...
