Obviously our Bible is the number one resource. I am asking if you know of study materials with a nouthetic, Biblical approach to marriage and other types of counseling.
Suggestions for good, fundamental counseling materials

Campus Crusade has a "Preparing for Marriage" book and workbook that I use, and I'm nouthetic in approach (trained under Jay Adams and Ed Hinson at Liberty).

I like a lot of the materials by Norman Wright.

Wayne Mack's Preparing for Marriage God's Way is a helpful workbook for marriage counseling.
I am reading a new book called The Ministry of Marriage by Jim Binney that seems helpful as well.
Paul Tripp's new book Instruments in the Redeemer's Hand is one you definitely should read. It's on the more general topic of counseling, but I think it could be as indispendible for us today as Adam's Competent to Counsel was for its generation of Biblical counselors. -
Wayne Mack is good. CCEF has a lot of good stuff. That is the group that Paul and Ted Tripp, Ed Welch, and a few others are associated with. I think CCEF is probably the best biblical counseling group that I know about.
Wright is an integrationist which rules out his material for biblical counseling. It just isn't necessary to go down that road, although I do have a few of his books. I am very skeptical of the value of the TJTA approach. I don't think it makes much difference. Just gives people something to blame for their sins, in some cases.
There is a book by Doug Wilson called Reforming Marriage which is very good.
Overall thought, I think CCEF is the best material available right now. Some of their books are
Blame it on the Brain (Welch)
Addictions: Banquet in a Grace (Welch)
INstrument's in the Redeemer's Hands (Tripp).
Seeing Through New Eyes (Powlinson).
There are some others. -
The TJTA was used on my wife and me. It made a huge difference in helping us to better understand why were having some of the troubles we were. It hepled us to see each other as we really were rather than trying to change each other. I am an extrovert and my wife is an introvert. So I am sure you can see the problem that existed. -
