After much thought, and my experience with the Constitution Party, I am going down to the courthouse tomorrow and switching back to Republican. I have come to the conclusion that I am not accomplishing much of anything on this path. My opinion of Romney has not changed that much, other than a small gap with Obama after listening to all of you, but maybe the Republican Party will set a course more conservative and more in line with the Constitution after this election. I will probably hold my nose and vote for Romney, although I still do not believe this person has had a total change of heart compared to his record as Governor. It is a marginally better choice than Obama, who is destroying this nation. It is up to the Lord to either change him after he wins, or, if he loses, to raise up a decent leader.
Switching Back to Republican

That is exactly what the republican part needs...those with conserative ideals to stick around and be vocal, not abandon to a third party. In a 2 party nation (it is what it is), party reform is the only true option on the plate!

And so you have joined me, as I went to the CP and came back. As it was written in a song once, "a long and winding road" do-do-do....No, I am not happy with the Republican Party, but they are starting to wake up.... Just think, a long-time RINO, Richard Lugar, was defeated in the primary last week. We need to rally the troops. The future of our nation is at stake.
So, SN, I say "welcome." :flower: -
Is hell frozen over?

I trust you are also going to get invovled with the local Republican commttee (City, town, county). That is where a big difference can be made.

Just curious Saturneptune and Lady Eagle, what precisely did you find in the Constitution Party that caused you to withdraw from it and change your registration back to the Republican Party?

I could not agree more. I will be one of Romney's biggest critics, if he does not live up to what is expected. We all know he will win at least a 40 state landslide, and he will have republican majorities in both houses. We have seen this movie before. Experience tells me Romney is a hard guy to trust. -
My opinion of Romney has not changed, but Republicans are the only party with the status to become conservative again to effect change.
The question I have for everyone who pounded me all these months for my third party stance, what have you done at your local level to bring about a change in the Republican Party besides type on Baptist Board? -
In my own case I have been very important with the Conservative Party - we often endorse the Republican Party candidate - but not always. In fact there were two high profile elections recently, that when we put up our own candidate - the Republicans lost.
Keep in mind that NY is a fusion State - and normally the Republicans need us to endorse their party nominations - and the candidates themselves know it - which keeps them a bit more conservative.
In the last Governors election over 200,000 citizens voted on the Conservative Party line. The Republican candidate lost - but our Party sent a strong message in that election.
Personally, I have been able to do very little as my new job has extremely long hours. In fact, I am not allowed to bring up politics to my customers. -
We live in a new time. Social media is the new outlet to get truth across and I comment anywhere and everywhere I can. I keep pointing to the cliff this country is headed over and who's leading it...with facts. Numbers can't be argued with.
Sitting in an office or at home leaving messages on people's answering machines is ineffective, as are mailers. -

There is a one-man, one-woman state constitutional marriage amendment on the ballot this fall thanks to the Republicans. A "stand your ground" type of use of deadly force bill was passed but vetoed by liberal governor Mark Dayton. The legislature passed tax breaks for businesses that the governor signed.
I agree with WebDog. The days of robo phone calls and mass mailers has passed. The new methods are social media and personal emails. I'm doing my part. -
