SOTL has stood on the KJB since I have known of them. Some SWOTL members are only KJB preferred.
Your threat to cancel subscriptions is totally fruitless. Their paper is free to all who wish to obtain a copy.
Though I am not a SOTL member, I do read their publication occasionally and have never read anything compromising or that would normally be deemed liberal.
My advise to you? Cancel, otherwise you might be upset at the truth.
What would be the motive of those who sell dictionaries?
Charity?
Your post - while admittedly not on the rant point of many of the KJVO's I've encountered - is the same kind of question begging argument that marks KJV Onlyism.
And why do you think that's all the new versions are about? Well, it HAS to be because the translators HAD to have bad motives - despite the fact you have NO PROOF to substantiate this.
While I think portions of your assessment are correct regarding publishing companies - and there are WAY too many English translations as it is - it's same old same old with the KJV.
Boys and Girls,Brothers and Sisters... I'd like to take this opportunity to apologize if it seemed to anyone that I might be trying to hijack this thread several pages ago. I wouldn't think of doing that !! I just get somewhat emotional when the subject of my Bible and the defense of it comes up. I will state for the record that I am thrilled that the Sword is apparently taking what I believe to be the right position (NOT in the EXTREME) on this very important issue. I will be one of their supporters. I'd love to attend that conference. I guess all these things will be forever settled one day in Heaven.....just like His Word ALREADY IS!! God Bless you all.
Shelton Smith's comments indicate that he does not understand correctly the views of believers who are not King James only unless he was attempting to misrepresent their views.
Those who are not KJV-only would include William Tyndale, Miles Coverdale, John Rogers, and other early English Bible translators including even the KJV translators.
Would a consistent application of Shelton Smith's view imply that William Tyndale diluted and diminished the text of Scripture?
Has Shelton Smith read and studied the pre-1611 English Bibles of which the KJV was a revision and the texts from which they were translated?
If Shelton Smith knows "the whole story" as he implies that he does, he should know the history of the English Bible and of the preservation of the Scriptures both before and after 1611.
As far as the paper, I have not seen this in the official publication but as for Dr. Smith he is KJV only. I know of most of these dear brothers and sisters, for the majority I believe they stand very firm on the King James Bible. I stand on the KJV but do not wish to hurt others who hold a different opinion.
But Dr. Smith did place this on his itinerary (or notes) but has not officially (as far as I know) placed this in the publication as a SWOTL sponsored event. This is a sticky subject that has caused a lot of unsaved folks to not want anything to do with being a Christian. I believe (I am only 29 so what do I know) that if we would get a firm grip on what the late Dr. Rice and Dr. Hutson had a hold on while editing this publication (I believe Dr. Smith does also), JESUS SAVES SINNERS! and we need to spread it all around, God would be so pleased and honor our prayers for the lost. The SWOTL is very good about publishing articles on soul winning and sponsoring soul winning conferences, have not seen any SWOTL sponsored KJV Bible Conferences listed since I have been reading. This is the gist of what I believe is the SWOTL standing:
“An Independent Christian Publication, Standing for the Verbal Inspiration of the Bible, the Deity of Christ, His Blood Atonement, Salvation
by Faith, New Testament Soul Winning and the Premillennial Return of Christ; Opposing Modernism, Worldliness and Formalism.”
Not being a smarty or anything but do not see anything about KJV Only. My prayer is that I have not offended anyone. Keep on keeping on! :wavey:
Goody, goody. But I have never paid for a copy and never will.
There is some one in our church that brings about 50 copies when a new issue comes out and they are all for free.
I don't know if he pays for them or not and really don't care.
I am NOT a SOTL member and will never be one either. I fully respect their leaders but I will not become a member of their association.
I appreciate their endeavor and find it suspect that anyone would disagree with their motive.

:praying: The remark was completely in jest and I should expect mature members of BB to know and understand that and stop this vehement desire of some to evaluate and thereby condemn the simplicity of "ribbing" humor.:praying:
I cannot, nor will not, because of my stand on the KJB when it is vehemently attacked, consider avoiding hurting anyone's feelings on the matter when they where those feelings ten feet to either side or advance those same feelings 30 feet in front or behind/ the danger zones for school bus drivers awareness of students loading and unloading the bus.
I cannot help it if I say the KJB is without error hurts their feelings.
If the SOTL meeting hurts anyone's feelings it is due to their own fault of wanting to be hurt.
My intent is to not hurt anyone, ever. God knows my heart. There it is revealed for all the world to see.
Thanks for your permission, though I find myself subject to the promptings of the Spirit.
I really don't believe when it comes down to what I like or dislike, to make any decision on the matter, but if my desire is to know the truth ( as if I didn't know already on the matter)should take precedence and my likes or dislikes are irrelevent.:wavey:
