Well, admitting defeat is half the battle.

John Kennedy wasn't ~in~ office long enough to be credited with a strong economy.
John Kennedy DID commit us to Vietnam, and DID escalate it far more than Johnson did. Johnson, after taking office said, "Since we're in this, we're going to win it," but Kennedy was the one who made the full committment. Neither Eisenhower or Johnson can be blamed for those.
Regarding Civil Rights - If you will look, you will find the majority of all laws passed in response to the Civil Rights activitists were written by and passed by Johnson. In fact, look up Johnson or Kennedy in the encylopedia's and the Civil Rights Act is about the only thing either of them are credited with.
John Kennedy had his OWN mafia ties. His Daddy wasn't the only one. Half the pictures of Sinatra singing and buddying up with mafia men had Kennedy IN them.
As to the Cuban Missle Crisis - He allowed the crisis to happen in the first place! -
Ted Kennedy murdered his girlfriend and never stood trial for it. NOTHING you say about him will erase that.
He didn't "just have a drunk driving accident," he swam away, leaving her to drown, while he hid in a cabin full of his Daddy's men. IF any of us did that we'd be locked away with the key buried in the ocean, but the Kennedy's can cheat on their wives, murder their girlfriend's, rape visitors in their homes and use coccaine and STILL be loved because they are rich. -
On this board, I see every past Democratic president for the last 70 years blamed for the failures of our current government, from Roosevelt to Kennedy to Carter to Clinton. People, these guys are not in office, nor have they been for years. Now we see a Senator who has given his life to public service being ridiculed over his weight. Amazing! And sad. He is not a model of perfection, but I notice a lot of "first stones" being cast.

Is he still a lush ? -

BTW, since yer so concerned about the stones being cast, perhaps you could lend some sanity to the Karl Rove threads, 'cuz people are lining up to throw them at him, and he didn't even drown any secretaries. -
2. Don't like Carter and Clinton. I thought they were among the worst presidents of the century, although, even I will admit that Clinton did stumble into some good things in his administration and wasn't (and still isn't) as shrill as the looney left hacks in his party today. He probably sits around on Friday night thinking, Dude, where's my party to take a line from Moore's movie.
3. Up there among the worst presidents of the 20th century was Republican George Bush Sr.
4. Kennedy deserves all the ridicule he gets and then some. He should be in prison.
5. I am an equal opportunity basher of liberals, no matter what party they're in.
