Well...I was a Boy Scout too and as far as that goes I enjoyed it because we (in the several different troops I was a part of) were VERY active in the camping and hiking activities which I dearly loved and sorely miss now. However....in the troop in Virginia that I was a part of it was discovered after a few years that the Scoutmaster was in fact a gay pedophile who made advances at myself (thankfully without success)and numerous of the younger members of our troop. When the truth came out he was politely asked to resign by several of the other adult assistants and parents without any comments made publically. In fact, they gave him a nice little goodbye ceremony with all of us in attendance. It was kinda creepy for a few of us. You can say that I have a very definite STRONG opinion about this matter. However,I know the darkness is rapidly descending on this world of wickedness and sin that we live in so I am not surprized by any of this. The difference between THEN and NOW is that then, there was a sense of shame surrounding that kind of behaviour. Today....NOW...they are open, boastful and proud about it as they shake their fists in the face of God and declare that He has no right to tell them what they can and can't do.:tear: In my opinion...this wholesale acceptance and endorsement of "so-called" "gay rights" is THE moral game-changer that will destroy this country and "set us up" for the entrance of the man of sin. It will become the "law of the land" and could very well be the thing that leads the visible church underground. Even so, come Lord Jesus!
RD2 and everybody else...the article I linked came from Answers in Genesis's Homepage. You can go there and sign up for FREE weekly updates and daily updates off of Ken Ham's Blog. I highly recommend both. AiG is one of the organizations that is at the forefront of the battle to uphold Biblical morality and the Authority of the Word of God beginning in Genesis. It has been a tremendous blessing to me for years now. Here are a few useful links to get to them....
The decision ha sbeen made by the private organization to do it. The Christian men who are leaders in the organization need to do everything within their power to show any young man who tells them he is gay that he is loved no less. I pray that these men will also clarify to these young men that it is the sex act that God says to refrain from and that they are not made to feel like pariahs just because of their feelings.
Point them to Christ.:1_grouphug:
Interesting stance that they take. And I agree, it undermines the definition of sin. But not to beat a dead horse. But that is EXACTLY the point I made about Christians supporting a certain candidate during the US election cycle as though it didn't matter.
The Answers in Genesi folks visited our church and I presented the same question which they danced and skirted around.
But alas, there always seems to be consistency when it comes to the pet sins of homosexual offense and abortion.
Zaac...While I have nothing concrete at this time to base this on....I'd be willing to bet (if I was a betting man) that the STILL NON-GAY adult male leadership will be instructed by THEIR leadership that they CANNOT say or do anything that would single-out or in any way "marginalize" any newly inducted professing "gays" in the membership of the BSA once the new "standards" take effect. Neither will they be allowed to AFFIRM the "traditional family" as that would be considered offensive to their newly inducted gay members. The lid has been removed from the can of worms....there is no going back now. Bible believing churches that sponsor BSA troops will have no choice but to back away. Any truly Christian men who are a part of the BSA leadership will, in effect, be as if they have had their lips sown SHUT as far as being able to provide solid Biblical and moral leadership to the boys in their charge. To allow gays in...whether it be in the membership or the leadership....or (eventually) both (and it WILL be eventually BOTH) is to throw any allegiance to God and Biblical principles of any kind OUT. Just watch and see. Just like all these States that are voting to approve so-called gay marriage...."another one bites the dust"! We are well on our way to the total apostasy of our churches and our country as the end rapidly approaches. As Johnny Cash sang..."I see the train a comin'...."
I certainly hope this is not the case. if it is, they can close up shop and call it a day.
Again, I thought the same discernment would have been present last Fall, but it wasn't.
Again, remind evangelicals what they supported during the Presidential election. And this is to what I referred to back then. We throw away any platform we have to witness for Christ when we pick and choose certain things to tolerate while disavowing others.
We seemingly threw out allegiance to God and Biblical principles then. So why shouldn't the gay community and its supporters expect us to once again make an exception?
Perhaps, but why do you suppose the Church has seemed to be so impotent the last 20 or 30 years in combatting the onslaught of corrupt morals?
