Boy Howdy, I'm back.

Some wind storm last night. WE had a power surge come through the cable (NOT the PP&L lines) and it fried my brand new cable modem.

Hit while watching a movie last night. TV cable continued, but the modem side fried. Took the guy until mid afternoon (I was 30 something on a list of 50) on the West side of Casper to get me up again. Took about 20 seconds to fix it.

Guess God knew I needed to get 500+ newsletters for the clinic out in the mail - fold, tape shut, label, stamp and to the PO.

FINALLY I can post as supper is cooking (chicken breast, asparagus, cauliflower and fresh green beans all in the steamer).

Will chat more during Monday Night Football.

CJ! You are turning into a 'party animal'.

I didn't sleep too well last night so I am going to turn in early tonight in hopes of catching up.

Please pray for my 9 and 10 year old grandsons. They are pretty sick, don't know yet if they both have a bad cold or the flu...they just came down with it last night and couldn't go to school today. Thanks.

Pleasant dreams all!

Yeah, right, Sue. Trust me, this is a fluke!!! :D :D

I will pray for your grandsons. I hear this flu is really nasty stuff this year.

And I saw one day (don't remember when), you said you had all your crocheting done!!! Congratulations!!! I know you were working hard on getting all of that done! How are your fingers?? :D

Dr. Bob... I had my cable modem "fried" a couple of years ago...before I knew about surge protectors!!!

(Not a good thing.) I now have learned to turn off the computer when we have one of those Texas thunderstorms...if we get enough advance warning!!

Oh, I HAVE a surge protector for the power line. This was the cable TV line! Never had even heard of it.

Lessons learned the hard way!

Sue! We just prayed for your grandsons, Dr. Bob's feet, etc.... and just trust the Lord will keep them safe.

I JUST read that approx. 36 children have already died from flu complications. Annually 92 die during the whole flu season. 3 little boys have died in N.C. in the last 10 days. They were ages 22 months, 3 and 5 years. The baby had gotten his flu shot. The two today died of pneumonia and mennigitis. In Texas, a rare and antibiotic resistant pneumonia is showing up in those who have gotten over the flu.

Our daughter in law has the flu but is recovering in a hotel on Long Island. She got sick last Thursday, was rushed to the hospital by ambulance on Friday but seems to be snapping out of it. I think the hotel staff were concerned about a lawsuit. Little Jack has pink eye in both eyes and poor Daddy is having to play mom, nurse and work full time.

Dr. Bob, hubby is such a surge protection nut! He got a 'mini-ups' for my computer the other day. We lose power every time it sprinkles around here and he got that so that my 'tower' won't crash.

C.J., you enjoying these football games? I got to watch a few minutes of some sitcoms. My grown kids always call at night. Erin has called 2 times tonight already and once early this morning. LOL. FROM MAINE. Scott will probably call once he's got all his chores finished and has talked to his wife long distance.

So you (or hubby) know of anything you can put in the cable tv line to avoid this?

It's so dry here in the winter (5% humidity right now) that we shock the bejeebers out of everything we touch.

Jim said look at Panamax or MonsterPower. He likes Panamax better because it's also surge protection and it has a much lower voltage threshold than monster cable. Panamax only makes surge and lightening protection products and you can buy online.

Give him a big THANKS for the info. While it's all covered by the Cable TV company, the frustration level of not having the computer makes it pretty cheap insurance!

No problem. Jim said Panamax has some very expensive stuff but they have some lower priced strips at reasonable prices and they have insurance that covers if their unit doesn't keep it safe.

Well, has EVERYONE gone to bed? Back to look around and all I hear is the fire crackling and tea kettle bubbling and . . .

Good Morning All!

Dr.B.: I get up between 3-4 every morning and if I don't sneak a nap in someplace, I either go to bed early or fall asleep at the computer and smack my face on the keyboard!

I had my modem burn up from a storm, five years ago, just a few days after I bought it. I took it back to Staples and told them it was their fault because they didn't tell me about a surge protector! After a few threats they gave me a brand new computer!

Morning Dan!

I have a surge protector NOW, but back when I bought my first computer, I had never even HEARD of a surge protector!

Cloudy, wintry mix and 35º with 22mph winds today.

Morning all! Much to do today! I've got to run up to church and make copies and then pick up a list of all those visitors who came to our Fall Festival and make up cards for our next visitation blitz. Home schooling is next with chores interspersed!

Hope Sue is not blown away in that awful wind today.

Keep warm, y'all!

I wish there was someone here to say, "How cold was it?"....

28º - 30 mph winds - wind chill 11º - snow/rain mixed

The wind was so bad that it unwrapped my scarf and blew it out into the middle of the street!

When I got home from the grocery store, I had to put my milk in the fridge to thaw it out!

Well, I could go on and on, but my fingers are so cold I can hardly type.

Oh Sue! That's AWFUL!!! Hope you're warmed up by now but it's not long til you head back out. YIKES.

It's 47° here now and I went up to church with just a light sweater on. We collected almost $800. Sunday for our sweet and injured janitor! PLUS, one Sunday School class adopted his family for Christmas gifts and another one took over ham and turkey plus a lot of other type things Monday to help with groceries NOW.

Back to 'school' so TTYL.

I am warm now. Put the groceries away and did a load of laundry.

I don't much like my 'corner' in this weather. I am the only crossing guard that has to stand outside the whole time. The rest of them have corners where they can see the kids coming so they get to set in their nice warm cars and wait. :(

I have two plaster kittens to paint for one of the grands and I have to water all my house plants today and make some "haystack" cookies (out of chow mein noodles and butterscotch chips) to save for Christmas, so I will check back later.

TTFN!
