Luke 21:8 (New International Version)
8He replied: "Watch out that you are not deceived. For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am he,' and, 'The time is near.' Do not follow them
Matthew 24 (New International Version)
4Jesus answered: "Watch out that no one deceives you. 5For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am the Christ,[a]' and will deceive many. 6You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8All these are the beginning of birth pains.
I need to do an exegesis and deep study on these passages, but what do you say? Are these beign fulfilled today in the contemporary church, or will these verses beign fulfilled durign the tribulation (as some have suggested)?

What do they say? Take a look at David Koresh and Jim Jones for examples of what He was talking about... -
-
Agree with Grasshopper
These were, without a doubt, fulfilled in the 1st century as one considers 1 John where he rebutts those who say "antichrist will come". Check it out. -
Do any of you think that all of these things, such as the things written in Revelation have all been fulfilled?

Fulfilled?
In my study of the rapture, I find a great many proofs for a post-trib rapture. I also find many, many statements for an imminent return of Christ.
I am not looking for an argument. I just feel for there to be a post-trib rapture that is, at least, nearly imminent, most of prophecy up until that point must be fulfilled. That is how I came to that belief. -
Preterism false
Preterism ignores mucho prophecy, some of which is being fulfilled RIGHT NOW, as travel & knowledge are still increasing, and Judah is not only restored, but is becoming stronger & wealthier by the week. -
This heresy of the church ages is being spread today by Harold Camping, President of the Family Radio. Anybody familiar with this apostate preacher?
In his book "Has the Church Age Come to an End?" he says such things as:
1. What is going on? Certainly something strange is happening. On the one hand we see churches everywhere becoming more and more apostate. Yet on the other hand we see a ministry like Family Radio becoming more and more useful to the Lord in sending the true Gospel into the world.
2. The Church Age Has Come to an End.
3.Thus both Revelation 11:7 and 2 Cor 10:4-6 teach that there comes a time when the work of the church is finished (Rev 11:2) its obedience has been fulfilled (2 Cor 10:6), and then follows judgment upon the church.
4.But after this there would be a great multitude saved. We read in Revelation 7:9 :
"After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands. "
Verse 14 teaches us that these who are clothed with white robes are those who come out of great tribulation. How can this be? Significantly at this time in history when the world's population is exploding, God has provided means by which the true Gospel can be heralded forth all over the world. This is particularly true as the Gospel is sent out by radio, by satellite, by Internet. Never before in the history of the world can a whole continent come under the umbrella of the Gospel.
Because we witness this phenomena by a ministry such as Family Radio which in no sense is under the authority of the church and which tries to be as faithful to the Bible as possible, we can know that we are in that time of the great tribulation. The next event will be the return of Christ and the end of the world.
5.No longer are you to be under the spiritual rulership of the church.
This command is given because God is finished with the era of churches being used of God to evangelize.
6. Because the church era has come to an end the churches have become dead as the church of Sardis long ago became dead. (Rev 3:1). The churches of today have had their candlestick removed even as the church of Ephesus of Rev. 2 was warned that God would remove their candlestick if they did not return to their first love. The church has ceased to be an institution or divine organism to serve God as His appointed representative on earth.
7.If the church age has come to an end, what are the believers to do who are members of churches?
Obedience to the command of Luke 21:20-24 can be accomplished in various ways. If a person or family is a member of a church they can withdraw their membership and fellowship on sundays with whomever there may be who are of like mind. Such withdrawal may initiate a move by the church to excommunicate. For that individual that is not a trauma because he has become convinced that the church era has come to an end and the church no longer has any divine authority.
If the individual or family are simply attending a church and are not members they can stop attending that church but continue to fellowship outside of the church with individuals of like mind.
If a congregation decides to be obedient to this command they can reorganize their congregation from a church congregation, to become a fellowship of believers. The elders will no longer be elders. The deacons will no longer be deacons. The Pastor will no longer be pastor. In other words no individuals will have spiritual rule over the congregation.
In other words, his radio station will lead believer's as they leave all the churches in the world, which he declares to be apostate. -
Studying the OT Feasts of the Lord helps to make things more clear when studying Bible prophecy. The Next Feast to be Fulfilled (in prophetic time line) is Rosh Hashana, the Feast of the Trumpets. That is when the Church Age will come to an end. Preterism has got it all wrong.

and if they are leaving the churches in order to form their own fellowships how is that not starting their own new churches? He doesn't even make logical sense.....but it is scary.l
