“I am astonished that evangelical pastors would highlight a pastor not only known for his crudeness and careless handling of Scripture, but a pastor who also credits foul-mouthed comedian Chris Rock with teaching him how to preach,” stated Cathy Mickels, former Washington state president of Phyllis Schlafly’s Eagle Forum and co-author of Spiritual Junk Food: The Dumbing Down of Christian Youth....

Hyperbole seems to be the rule of the day when it comes to attacks on Mark Driscoll.

Freeatlast - I'll ask you - did you watch the video I linked in the other thread?

I agree, Ann. Some people just refuse to look at the whole picture before making judgements!

    Cheers,

We need to pass out a "Jumps to Conclusions" floor mat around here.

Driscoll has repeatedly and honestly apologized and repented of his former way of doing things. He's a good minister. Stop trying to score points at his failures which are YEARS ago.

I agree. I guess people don't like his more casual manner, his way of stating things - but they are all solid IMO. Yes, he's not everyone's cup of tea but there are other pastors that are solid who are not MY cup of tea either because I just find them boring to listen to.

I watched it and thought Driscoll was dead on.

I didn't see or hear any "blasphemy".

    I think they don't like him because he's reformed ... :tongue3:

Just seeing if we can turn this into a C vs A discussion. :saint:

He's not what I would like to hear every week, (i'm sure that keeps him up at night) but he is solid doctrinally and clearly presents how a person needs and gets saved.

His style is not exactly my cuppa, but I have never heard him preach error. Praise God for the many saved and growing under his ministry.

Does not satan seek to justify his actions? Yes so why would anything less be expected from this man.

Ann satan's ways are many times solid, they are just not of the Lord.

Whether they are saved or not is questionable, but if some are it is not because of this man's style it inspite of him and because of the word of God.

All men (and women) are saved because of the Word of God inspite of whoever brings it to them.

No there are men who God is using because they are called unlike Driscoll who of going on his own.

Wow so you think it's okay to label a man (who is passionate about the Gospel and preaches the Bible) an agent of Satan, false teacher, and not a man of God?

Your hubris is very disturbing. I guess you're the only one with a corner on correct theology.

If you can show me in the bible where the Lord or any other person ever preached using foul language like Mark Driscoll does I will retract my statements.

Wow - I'm glad God is more forgiving than you are. He used to use foul language in his distant past, repented of it and no longer curses. You know what the Bible says about unforgiveness...

Well I am not sure what distant past means to you, but the last message I heard from him was sour.
How about posting his last 10 messages.

2 Kings 18: 27 "But Rabshakeh said unto them, Hath my master sent me to them, and to thee, speak these words? hath he not sent me to the men which sit on the wall, that they may eat their own shit, and drink their own piss with you?" In your beloved Old Testament. Ever preach through the Bible and ignore that passage?

    Cheers,

    Jim
