Los Tiburones de San Jose are going to play the Oilers. The Bay Area knows what to do with slicks.
Remember, MLB season don't start until your team is out of the Stanley Cup playoffs (cf. the Pirates vis the Red Wings and I won't even mention the Blackhawks).

The top four seeds in the East advance. The top four seeds in the West are at home. I know the playoffs can be wacky, but geez
-
Oh did Detroit get sent home in the first round?
I must have missed that one :D -

Errm, that should have been cf. the Tigers vis. the Red Wings
-
I was wondering when the Pirates had decided they could do better than the Penguins

Los Tiburones mopped up an Albertan environmental disaster 2-1. We had one real good line and a pretty good line. They only had one real good on. :(

Carolina's win over the Devils last night is one of the darndest things I've seen in sports in a long time. 21 seconds remaining and you think the Devils have it sewn up. Carolina ties it with about four seconds left and then wins in OT. WOW!

Los Tiburones are up 2-0 on last night's 2-1 game. At one point, the Slick was skating with a 5 on 3 penalty. The Sharks however broke two sticks, effectively cutting down their numeric advantage. But Los Tiburones held the Slick scoreless until the line could be changed.

They ain't up 2-0 anymore. They were shark meat for the Oilers last night (or shall I say this morning) when the game ended close to 12:30 a.m, 2 minutes and 26 seconds into the third overtime period. The Sharks didn't even come out to play. The only player that did was Toskala, who faced 61 shots compared to Roloson who let in two of the Shark's 36 shots over almost six periods of hockey.
Now the series is 2 to 1 in Sharks favor. But that will change

Yeup to four-one. But it did take the Oilers a third OT period to win.

The locals here are having a feast. There is plenty of variety:
Shark fin soup
Shark steak
Baby shark fry
Stewed shark
Grilled shark
Come Friday evening the real shark fest will begin.
I expect the series to be tied by the end of Friday. -
Hockey?
Isnt that like...figure skating?
Except they keep score?
If your gonna talk sports this time of year, its BASEBALL!!!
Mike
...ready for incoming! :D -
But in our state D28, I thought it was always Basketball season. 'Cept around Georgetown, where they have both Basketball AND Football!
Seriously, in our area, how 'bout them Bat Cats, and the Reds, this year?

Haven't you heard? MLB season don't start until your team's been eliminated from the Stanley Cup and its playoffs.
-
Squire is right. I can root mightily for my Reds now that the Predators are golfing. I hope San Jose and Carolina meet in the Cup finals
-
Oilers defeat Sharks 6 to 3 to tie the series.
San Jose won't be playing Carolina any time soon. -
The stage is being set.
Carolina has dumped New Jersey and,
Buffalo defeated Ottawa resulting in
Buffalo vs. Carolina for the Eastern Conference Championship.
On the other hand, Anaheim has already won their series over Colorado.
But tonight the Oilers took a 3-2 stranglehold on the Sharks, and hope to wind it up in Edmonton on Wednesday. If that happens Edmonton will play Anaheim, and the winner of that match will play the winner of Buffalo and Carolina for the Stanley Cup. Which two will it be? Which one?
DHK -
I would like to see a Carolina v. Edmonton matchup in the finals.
-
I'm going with the teams that took out the 2 teams that won and nearly won the President's Cup. That is, Buffalo vs. Edmonton for the Stanley Cup.
-
The Edmonton Oilers keep on rolling. They just ate up the Sharks 2-0 taking the series in six. After losing the first two, they won four straight.
Now, beginning Friday, they face Anaheim. But they are already looking past them to the Stanley Cup.
We have the entire nation of Canada cheering on Edmonton.
