Regardless of who lived there I approve of the dropping of both of the nuclear bombs.
Doing so saved probably a million American casualties and many times that number of Japanese casualties if we had had to invade the Japanese homeland.
Those faithful saints in Jerusalem (Act 4:32)
had given all their possessions to the common good, in anticipation of the Messiah's return in His Kingdom.
Israel rejected Him, and the Kingdom was put aside, and is, incidentally, still in abeyance today.
And the consequences must have been quite grave, as we see Paul later collecting goods and moneys from Macedonia and Achaia for these same "saints" in Jerusalem. Rom 15:25
We disagree here.
There is still a great difference in the 2 parties members, but the vocal leftists have subdued, for now, the conservatives.
IMO the Republican party is salvageable, and the Democrat party is not, as far as these pertain to the evangelical conservative.
Having said that, I hold little hope for the GOP in Nov. '08'.
A sound thrashing may, and I mean may, return them to their conservative base.
But it may be too late.
IMO the Republicans are taking the USofA to
hell in a handbasket.
By contrast the Democrats are taking the
USofA to perdition in a motorized shopping cart.
While we agree the GOP is quite low now, I still believe there are enough top officials with their "light" off now, that can be re-engaged for conservative principals.
There is though, an enormous propaganda war instigated against them.
Oregons own Senator Gordon Smith, is one that I really don't know what way he'd go.
He's running headlong into the abyss now, but he hasn't any Biblical rock on which to stand.
I guess in my view, I hold out hope, and vow to fight for righteousness, and to work to support and elect honorable men.
Kinda tough job.......
In my state, in Presidential elections, if the Republican is a decent candidate, the state will generally go Republican.
If they get put in a corner by a liberal candidate with both parties, they are just as likely to vote Democrat as Republican.
In 1992, the state regarded Bush 1 as a flaming liberal for raising taxes, and voted for Clinton becuase of the a southern connection and his false appearance as a moderate at the time.
That is why when you talk about a contest between Giuliani and Clinton, I have no idea who would win this state.
there's no doubt here, as Portland, Eugene, home of the Oregon Ducks, and Salem, have the clout to elect whatever Democrat they choose.
clinton
has Oregon locked up tight.
Do you think that since there were no true military targets in either city that perhaps he may have been able to find more suitable cities to destoy?
Unless of course he knew that these cities were mainly "christian"and chose them for that reason?
If true then I would say hat their blood is on Trumans hands ,and we have to be concerned with our choice of military targets and wars today, not to be so ready to go along with our leaders just because they are our leaders,to understand history,as well as current events so we don't wind up with innocent blood on our own hands.Agree? Disagree?or do you even care?
Hiroshima had military facilities and factories that had not been badly damaged yet.
Nagasaki was a major naval and shipbuilding center.
Perhaps as many as 1 million American casualties and many times that number of Japanese casualties were avoided by dropping the two nuclear bombs on Japan.
I have no problem with Truman's decision.
World War II was a total war.
Unconditional surrender was the only acceptable end.
Even after the Japanese emperor had decided to surrender after the second nuclear bomb there was a segment of the Japanese military that planned to stop him from making the surrender announcement.
Only a fortuitous bombing raid stopped the renegades from successfully carrying out their plot.
One of the best things President Truman did was to use the nuclear bombs on Japan.
At this point in the war the Japanese were beaten.
The United States knew it and the Japanese knew it; still they would not surrender.
I heard a WW2 vet interviewed on television the other day say that since Japan continued useless fighting that continued to kill thousands of American soldiers, the American public was extremely angry at the Japanese at this time and was ready to use any weapon to end the war.
Also, if the Japanese had not surrendered, we could not have produced another A-bomb in time to prevent an invasion. The second drop sealed Allied victory, but the whole world is fortunate Japan came to her senses..
These two cities were not "major cities" they had little or no military targets.
I found this information in a book authored by A. Ralph Epperson called the Unseen Hand, highly documented. I am sure that there will be those on BB that will try to tell me that Epperson doesn't have evidence to support his claims. The choice we have is clear 1. believe everything your told is the truth or 2. Do your own homework and check out the facts as divulged by the Freedom of information act,and come to your own conclusions, please don't trust me search for the truth and believe yourself...
